Davies got far more stick on here than Isted. Main fault with him being not coming off his line for crosses and prone to the odd **** up. Davies had a much better defence in front of him than Isted although both were good for the Division we were in. Of the two I preferred Isted for all round ability so wouldn't mind him back.

So he let himself be swayed by his agent? I can't get my head around that, agents work for the players surely?

Maybe he wasn’t swayed maybe his agent asked him to look at all the facts again and he changed his own mind?
I can imagine a scenario where emotionally he felt a connection to us after his time but the actual offer on the table was better from Charlton (not saying it was).

    Maybe controversial but just imho.
    Of the last 5 Goalies
    Best in order
    1 Isted
    2 Walton
    3= Roberts/Davies
    5 Collins.
I wouldn't be averse to any mind, coming back.
I wont enter into a debate it's just an opinion.. if anyone prefers others fine.

@LucaBywater7 suggested not? And he'd have been our first choice too.

This fixation with former players and managers is worrying.

The thing is Helen that it is suggested that Khaled messed up by offering him a basic contract. The other side of the coin is that that's what we thought he was worth. Let's face it we went out and got Roberts who everybody was absolutely raving about within a few weeks.
Whether people want to believe the club messed up or not there's undoubtedly plenty of very decent keepers out there.

Khaled was shịte, 2nd worst CEO we've ever had, only slightly better than Linton.

If our model is buy potential, develop potential, sell greater potential; there may still be decent players amongst those who move on and either start to fade or don’t quite realise it. It could indeed be argued that there’s less risk in buying known quantities.

Khaled offered a week contract that charlton tripled with bonuses included and he still wanted to sign as that guy said his agent told him he’s not young and needs to get some money behind him obviously he then reconsidered his options his dad has been tapping him up since season finished and telling him he wants him to go back to Barnsley

    Weak contract
Khaled lost his Job after the isted incident they told him straight away that his contract wouldn’t be renewed and that he’s on the list for this season to bring him back they was not happy that they let a player slip away who wanted to come and I assure u the offer he got wasn’t what we thought he was worth Khaled was just being greedy and trying to skimp him out of every penny he could and then he went to charlton

I don't want either back at Barnsley. There's better keepers out there.

Khaled caused more damage to the club/fan base than any CEO before him. How he lasted so long in that position is astounding and isn't a good look for his employers, it makes them look clueless.

I liked Isted. Truthfully, I want us to sign a keeper who isn’t welded to his line!

I think with the goalkeeper situation. It's more of a case that they are at, or near their prime. (Davies apart). And we as fans know what we would be getting.
The club and Clarke may have other ideas up their sleeves. Eg the Cheltenham lad. Who tbh I know bugger all about. Or any other for that matter.
But as far as I'm aware, of the last 5 to appear for us, only Davies and Roberts are available on a free.

To get this straight, Charlton offered him three times more than we thought he's worth, decided he wasn't good enough, finished bottom half of the table and now want to move on after a year. Meanwhile we easily replaced him and made the playoffs. ******* Khaled.

100% I would prefer Davies. But I’m relaxed if we don’t sign either. I’m sure there are decent available keepers.
