Yes, I'm sure young Barrie and his family are thoroughly ashamed of their Nottinghamshire mining past.
For me, this is one of the worst traits we have as Barnsley fans. That there is always someone to blame and target. And the blunt Barnsley tone is pretty brutal in apportioning that blame and tarring someone so quickly. Players have split seconds to judge situations and decide what the best course of action is. A sudden gust of wind, a slip, a great bit of skill, a player screening a view all impact on those small decisions. It would be great if we could give them time and space to make their mistakes and grow and learn and develop. Recent history has plenty of examples that our coaching brings on players in just the space of a year. So if we have faith in them, the guys we've only just brought in have a good chance of developing too. How good they become, who can tell. Lets allow them to breathe a bit.
I don't agree with you, but I realise this is a pointless exercise as you always state your opinion as fact. Generally Jackson had a decent game, but he was out of position for the cross, was unaware of where his man was consequently we concede from a free header. The cross should have been closed down (indeed we were guilty of standing off far too often last night) but if Jackson is in the right position he clears for a corner.
I thought he played well overall. He was partly at fault for the goal, and he nearly gave them another gift with an awful first touch, near the half way line. Luckily Osborn (I think) skewed the chance well wide. MacDonald also looked better last night, and the full-backs played well again, but we still look very vulnerable to conceding.
Not sure what what the personal attacks about it's just my opinion. Definitely a series of errors but Pearsons was the most basic for me.
I don't think any one was at fault (unless they're told to man mark). It was a very good cross perfect for the on rushing player. If we'd have scored a goal like that I would have been drooling.
Tell that to the Celtic and Rangers fans. Fenian-this, hun-that. It's what happens when there's a rivalry of some sort.
I do actually think Pearson was slightly at fault for the goal but so what. These young lads collectively did themselves proud last night but need to be allowed to make mistakes without people jumping all over them. The good thing about last night for me is that apart from some hiccups that are inevitable along the way, these lads are already showing an improvement and I expect that to continue in a very unforgiving league. We also have a number of our main summer signings to come into the fray along with a couple of our under 23s that may step up. I'm not getting carried away by one result but then I will find it a very interesting season seeing how we develop.
Didn't go so not in a position to comment my mate who is usually bang on said that Jackson was our poorest player in tbe first half and our best in tbe second. So a mixed bag I guess.
I blame Hecky. I sit behind the dug out (lower West stand) and for the first half their number 10 and 27 were running up and down that wing totaslly unmarked. Surely if we can all see it Hecky and his coaching staff must see it too. He was telling other players when to move up or move back but not once did he shout at a player in a red shirt to mark or cover either of these two players. Where we were sat it was so glaringly obvious it was becoming embarrassing. It was a great game last night and the team played fantastice but surely something as obvious as two unmarked playes for a full 45 minutes should be noticed by the coaching staff.
Schalke call Dortmund "Ticks". A popular Dortmund chant is "Tod und Hass dem S04 (Death and hate to Schalke)." Is that better for you.
