The council have: Road closures To help the access routes for this game, there will be full closures of: Harborough Hill exit slip roads (diversion route via Harborough Hill/Westway or Harborough Hill/Old Mill Lane) Schwäbisch Gmünd Way Eldon Street North (from James Street to the Interchange bus entrance) Mottram Street Pontefract Road beneath the Harborough Hill flyover The closures will be in place from 7pm until approximately 11pm, depending on police needs. They will be closely monitored and removed as early as it is safe to do so. A Barnsley Council traffic management contractor will manage the road closures. There are no additional road closures around Oakwell. Unaffected roads: Church Street Eldon Street (including taxi rank) Market Hill Shambles Street St Mary’s Place Old Mill Lane Westway Regent Street (except no left turn onto Eldon Street North other than for buses accessing the Interchange)
So the only way for Wednesday fans using trains is to walk up lambra road, Wesley street, west way, down new street, through cheapside, through the town square and into the very narrow gap at the bottom of the Superbowl, through the bus station and into the train station. And all mixed in with Barnsley fans Oh aye, that seems MUCH safer
Of course not. Doing that after the game takes them to the wrong platform for trains to Sheffield anyway! Upon arrival I’m pretty sure they’ll be escorted over the interchange bridge - given that’s supposedly closed for home fans. Leaving the game they’ll probably be held back and escorted to the Interchange.
But Schwäbisch Gmünd Way is closed. The notice doesn't say it's closed to home fans, it says it's closed.
The notice is about roads that are closed to traffic, not pedestrians. All the info is here: https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/news/ad...-in-place-for-barnsley-v-sheffield-wednesday/
