    RE: 101mph on M1. Already has 3pts for 36 in a 30

I've never ever done over 150mph on the motorway, that's all I'm saying!

It's not illegal if you don't get caught.

    boo hiss, etc.

Go and piss on someone else's bonfire.

Your friend could always say he was getting used to the car if it was new, just like that copper who got caught doing 140mph+ down the motorway. The lovely person.

    well then

if he is unstable enough that he would consider suicide and hes been doing 101, he needs banning and some counsiling as soon as possible, he is clearly a menace on the road!

    Speeding

Best form of defence is to say that his eye-sight is bad and he couldn't see the speedo.

    RE: Speeding

A mate of mine was banned for 6 months for doing 90mph on the M1. 1st offence as well. He was told its an instant ban being cought at anything over 85 on the motorway. Minimum ban so it could be a week.

My cousin and a good friend was killed by a speeding driver a few years ago. So it would help go get people like him off the road.

no xmas realed subject on this response

brings the whole thing back to perspective and i thank you for doing it. people asking how to get off driving bans....

the best excuse they've used above is "speeding on a motorway is less dangerous than doing 50 in a 30".......

takes longer to stop if you need to, motorway pile ups are horrific. just cos there are no kids playing at the side doesn't make them less dangerous

    spot on mate

if we were talking 75 to 80? then ok, we have all done that. because sometimes its do 60 behind lorrys or get out into 3rd lane. but 101 is just stupid and uncalled for.

I would think that if your job was dependent on driving, you would be careful not to go 30mph over the limit. After my test, if I had 6 points on my licence in the first 2 years I would have to do the whole test again. Needless to say, I was aware of my speed.

I regularly drive at over 100mph on the motorway. I am also aware of my speed

Can't beleive all the do gooders have their chance to spout off again about speeding.

I have never had an accident on them and motorways are safe at that speed.

I do not drive at that speed in bad weather or in heavy traffic.

I maintian lane discipline keep good observation and maintain my car.

Speed never hurt anyone. Bad driving kills thousands a year.

The fact still remains that it would take you longer to stop at that speed. You are taking a risk, & I just hope you never do get involved in an accident but that is probably more down to luck than judgement!

    the fact is

is that all those who do drive over 100mph on the motorways don't drive carefully - they get right up the arses of those in front to try and force them out of the way.

also, imagine you're in the 3rd lane (in your bmw as i'd imagine it is) coming up to a few cars who are almost all in the middle lane. a lorry decides to overtake another lorry and as we all know half of the time they just pull out without checking. the cars in the middle lane have the choice of slam on their brakes or pull out into the outside (your lane). you're driving 105 mph - you massively increase the risk of crashing cos you are driving so fast. ok its the lorry's fault that cars have to brake/swerve to avoid them but you do yourself less favours. unpredictable things happen on the roads and at that speed you'll do well to avoid something dangerous

If the driver is paying attention

And reading the road it doesn't matter what speed he is doing. They should have plenty of time to react to the situation. When a hazard presents itself, take action. i.e. slow down. Speeding per se is not the problem. Speeding at the wrong time is.

Also the exact same situation you are describing could happen at much lower speeds. Speed is irelevant. Paying attention and good driving is the key issue. Stupid people putting make up on, sending text messages, arguing with their kids, swapping lanes without looking over their shoulders. BMW drivers who seem to have taken the CD player option instead of the indicators. These are the people who need banning.

not drivers who travel at high speed when safe to do so.

Many many drivers drive at 100mph on the motorway. If it was so dangerous our motorways would be killing zones, rather than the safest roads in the country.
