    My advice is send her on her own cos she'll only leave you when she gets the job and meets a new, classy, rich fella in london town.

    At least you'll save on the rail fare

    Thanks everyone for the replies. In response to a couple of questions, the interview itself is at 11 am. I'm not sure what the job is, but I know it involves PPI (definitely not cold calling), but the job itself is in Manchester, so why the interview is in London I'll never know. She was on he verge of not going last night because she's having an operation a couple of days before (nothing too serious) and didn't fancy the prospect of going down to London a couple of days later in the time she's been given from her current employer to recover.

    Thanks once again. I'll certainly look into most avenues you've all provided. I knew this was the place to ask. Xxxxxxxxxxx

    If they don't reimburse travel to interview costs they're not a company she should want to work for.

    There's a train from Donny to London at 8:30 which arrives in Kings Cross 10:14. It's £39.50 on Red Spotted Hankey. You can get a tube directly from Kings Cross to Liverpool St. It's only 4 stops, so 10 minutes. Easily be there for the interview. Either get the train to Donny or drive and Park. The civic quarter car park in Donny is very reasonable and only 5 minutes walk from the station.

    Coming back, there's a train from Kings Cross to Donny at 14:48 for £23.50. After half seven in the evening there's loads for around that price. Come back at ten and it drops to £11.25, so the return would be just over £50.

    Agree Einstein. Particularly if they expect her to interview in a place where the job isn't based. It's certainly worth asking

    When I was made redundant, BT dragged me down to Fleet in Hampshire (5 hours each way) for an interview for a non-existant role. They didn't pay expenses either. One company I'll never even consider working for in future. :(

    My recent assessment centre was going to initially be in Birmingham and I would have been able to claim expenses - is that not the case with your girlfriend?
