I’ve had this notification a few times recently. I just binned it without opening but I keep receiving it.
Is it a scam or could it be genuine?
I’m not replying until I’m sure it’s real and not something which might be detrimental to myself.
Just too much sh’t going on these days. Hard to avoid.
    Thanks for any help.

Rule number 1: never, ever, click on a link on an email/text/whatever, always go directly to where the link it professing to take you to.
Rule number 2: on an email, look at what email address it is actually coming from. If you click on the sender's name you will be able to see the email address. Is it something that looks like a load of rubbish, or that looks legitimate but with a small error?
Rule number 3: hover over any links to see where it is taking you. Does the web address match what it is saying it is?
Rule number 4: Be extra suspicious of something that starts with a generic greeting e.g. 'Dear Microsoft User'. Whilst using your first name may not make it trustworthy, not using it is more suspicious.

It looks dodgy to me. Don't click on the Sign In link.

If you're on a laptop, move your mouse over the link but don't click it. Hold it there and watch for a website address appearing on the screen somewhere. Look at this text and see if it looks like a genuine Microsoft website address.

If you're on a phone, press and hold on the link. A window should appear after a while, showing you the website address that the link would take you to, if you clicked it.

You can safely practice this on here. Press and hold my profile image above, and wait until the link appears.

Don’t click pal it’s phishing. Report to Microsoft and ignore.

Ian, have you got a PC you can view it on? If so, hover the mouse over the link and look at the bottom of the screen, the browser will show what the link is. It will be obvious if it's not genuine.

I do have a pc but never (can’t) use it. I just use my iPhone. I took others advice and just blocked the sender. Hopefully it works.
    Thanks for your help B.

    That begs another question…
I can block dodgy senders to my outlook account on my laptop but how do I block to the same account on my iPhone?

    Thanks mate!
As a brief aside me and the missus were downtown Dundee a few weeks back and had a very pleasant lunch in the St Andrews Brewing Co.
Should have asked you where to go in advance but the ale was top notch and the snap adequate.

I’d have been happy to help out but I’m rarely in town mate. I had to think hard where the St Andrew’s Brewing Co. was. Isn’t it on Shore Terrace at the back of the Caird Hall?
    Never been in there.
Hope you had a good time while you visited.
Btw on the corner of Shore Terrace and Crichton Street, where you were there is a plaque on the wall commemorating the hotel which stood there and where the original founders of Dundee Hibs (United) met to bring our club into being.
We changed our name in 1923.
