I think the age should be reduced but to 14 not 13 but with that reduction I would increase the penalty for under 14s considerable for BOTH parties even if theyre both 13. I'd also bring in an age difference law so if the partners are over 2 years difference in age (with at least one under 18) then it is illegal, unless you have previous WRITTEN consent of the parents (to prove youre both mature enough to deal with rhe embarrassment, to stop spur of the moment sex with a young lass taken advantage of and also to give the parents a chance to stop older people praying on younger and making a judgement that they dont think thats the case.

Id also bring in Jays under 18 condom rule.

Oh and the idea that hall did nowt wrong is ridiculous

Good news for Dreamboy as he quickly checks Facebook for Chris Taylor's sister.

Quick internet search says that could be the fact, although neither ages are actually said in the script. It seems to be generally assumed that Juliet is 13 and Romeo is 14-16, although more contemporary working of the play have them as 20-30's.

However, Romeo and Juliet was originally written as a cautionary tale of young love. It's thought that there were other versions before Shakespeare's play.

Then again though, Romeo and Juliet has nowt to do with adults touching up kids.

I would assume that modern takes on the play have them older due to political correctness, quite rightly so in my opinion as it's not the best idea to set an example by showing kids killing themselves for love.

And I agree, Romeo and Juliet is nothing to do with adults and kids, it is relevant as a reference point for the age of consent between two young people however.

I think that the main thing that this so called barrister has forgotten in her suggestion is that sex between two under-aged people and sex between an older person and a youngster are two totally different things.

I think that's the case in Italy and Spain who have lower ages of consent but both parties have to be young, it's not a free licence for old pervs like this barrister wants.

    Quite right there ST.

    It's a tricky subject.

I just think it's sickening that someone who represents people in a court of law can come out and say disgusting things like this.

    13? Really???
