    Issue with this and "topping up" certain player wages to keep them, is that all the other players could then get annoyed and want their wages upping too to match what the others are getting, which Barnsley simply cant afford to do , hence why we have such a low wage budget each season and why we lose players to other clubs in this division

    Correct.. We cant pay some players lot more than others, egos wont allow it... you'd lose the... all in it together thing.
    Remember when we re-signed Hammill and Johnson said that he went to the players to make sure it was alright to bring him in, cos he would be on more than them.. But we were bottom of L1 at the time and everyone knew we needed him so the answer was yes... and the rest is history as they say.
