    Thought they had a new scoring system in place which helped them determine how good a player is. Seems no one at Oakwell can actually use their own eyes and judgement.

    Surly we we can't make the same mistake twice :D

    I've got my own scoring system:

    Is he any good?
    Yes=1
    No=0

    ≥ 1 - he's a good player
    < 1 - he's ****

    have any of you stopped to consider this

    Maybe Holgate already has a clause in his contract that if a club from the championship or higher comes in for him with an offer of £500,000 then he can instigate a release clause. That would not in the least bit surprise me. Many other players at other clubs sneak that little gem in.

    Re: have any of you stopped to consider this

    It would be an unusual clause in a players first professional contract signed before he had even played a game for the first team though wouldnt it. I just think its the club either genuinely dont think he is worth more than 500K - given past form thats quite likely, or they dont want to risk him going for less than that next summer.
    I prefer the way Liverpool handled players who want to leave. Look at what they got for Sterling and Suarez. Both players who wanted to go but the Club made sure they got what they are really worth (More in the case of Sterling)

    He's hit and miss like any journo I suppose. But he was bang on regards Mawson and bang on regards Dempsey.

    only time will tell Dave, but I bet yer bottom dollar

    it will be the dreaded "Undisclosed Fee" yet again, which in Barnsley speak means "Shitty Deal"

    For goodness sake.................have we learned nothing from previous dealings?
    Ben ring somebody at Peterboro or virtually anyone else and ask em how to get more etc, if this is true re £500k to a prem club, we need some uncomfortable questions aimed at our suits!

    It won't be 500K - I can believe that this guy has heard a rumour about some big club entering 'the race for Mase', but I bet he doesn't know the fee

    Nobody would be inept enough to let him go for 500k - we'd get that much at a tribunal after a year anyway.

    A bidding war should be building up, especially with a big boy kicking around. I'd say (but bare in mind I know nothing) that his market value is at least 2 million, but we'll probs be looking at 1m plus add ons

    owt over a million would be ok

    he is largely unproven. I am certainly doubting his potential mind. But this is Barnsley we will be "Rubber Dicked" yet again just you see.

    This is like one of those recurring nightmares except it's reality and we can't wake up and think 'oh just a nightmare'. FFS BFC when will you ever stop acting like a badly run corner shop.
