Yes and I think he's a country mile behind Tom Bradshaw in every aspect of the game. As you rightly say, just a difference of opinion that's all.
I don't think Payne ever started a game. Sorry mate, but that's hardly giving someone a fair go. Cheered on against Rotherham after his efforts in the previous games. injured and then sent out on loan.
Honest Laiker Payne but would be amazed if he played above league 1level.As for mowatt law of averages says not every signing hecky makes will work out and if that's the case with mowatt then it's best for everyone if he moves on.
Let's face it he is behind moncur Potts mcgheen in centre midfield role. He may want to be playing games best thing he could do is go out on loan do well come back full of confidence and break into the 1st team.
I think both Mowatt and Payne were given ample chances but failed to grab them when they did . Its a shame with Mowatt cos I think he has quality but he plays like he can't be arsed .Payne isn't good enough for the championship.
We've basically got too many midfielders to keep them all happy, and that's when we play one up top. When we go back to a flat 4 4 2 it'll be even more competitive for places. I have no problem with anyone going out on loan to be fair, but just think some players get better opportunities than others, and managers have favourites. They're human after all. Just look at Lee Johnsones love for nyatanga week in and week out.
Think mowatt has only started one game this season on the wing v Bristol city. He isn't a winger he is far too slow, from what I saw of him last season I want impressed to be honest in the middle of the park. I don't know if it's favourites or if he isn't impressing hecky in training.
Are you referring to Bradshaw? . If so I agree hes got to improve at this level . How many goals did Payne score for us ?
Mowatt is a donny lad, as far as I know he still lives in Bentley not far from me. A loan at the deepthroat makes sense. Half season, and reassess in January. (When moncur and Potts have been sold to villa...!!!)
Made 9 appearances for the reds. I don't think he made a start. How many goals do you expect from someone that gets the odd 10 or 15 minutes as sub.
I get the impression that certain players are just unable to take on board what the coaching staff are trying to develop in them. Hecky is highly detailed and exact in what he wants players in certain positions/roles to do. Some adapt brilliantly e.g. Hourihane/Moncur/Brownhill/Hedges to name a few. Until he gets new players on to the training pitch he cannot be certain they cannot develop in the way he wants. All of them arrive with the potential to do that but some just don't work out. It may be attitude, football intelligence, discipline or simply concentration. I think Mowatt, Payne, Lee, Kpekawa, Tuton, K Jackson all fall into that category, having seen them in the first team and in the U23s. If he can't trust them, he doesn't play them. At the moment he trusts Jared Bird more than he trusts Mowatt, so I'm guessing Mowatt is definitely a candidate to leave this week, most likely on loan but possibly permanently.
He had to prove he was worthy of a place in the starting line up before Bradshaw, which he could have done on the training pitch. If he, or anyone else, fails to convince Hecky there it's highly unlikely to happen. Hecky is paid to make these choices and in my opinion he's as good a manager/Head Coach as I've ever seen at Oakwell. For me, he's done a fantastic job (especially when taking into account all the things beyond his control which have gone against him) and I'll back him to make the correct decision for the team & club.
If he was any good Hecky would have given him more game time. He worked with Payne for 12 months and has decided to let him go . That's good enough for me .
He/Mowatt started badly (going at the Wolves player with a machete and getting sent off lol), and he's been just inconsistent since then. BUT it's got to be said that Hecky has constantly messed him about in midfield. And while we would all surely say that about Hammill and defend him, Mowatt doesn't get a fair deal admittedly.
This is very true. There's a certain way of playing at Barnsley which players from other clubs find quite difficult to adapt to. It's very very intense and focused. On evidence most players succeed but there will be a few that can't hack it. Hecky keeps saying that the current team is nowhere near up to speed yet. Which means of course that there's much more to come from these players e.g. Potts, Williams, McCarthey, Pearson, Hedges etc etc. Exciting times.
