RE: So getting to the FA Cup Semi Final isn't enough

I don't think many expected the play-offs or above but for this squad to be struggling at the bottom ofthis division is just not good enough. Give them something to come for and they'll buy it as is proved with the FA Cup attendances. You're probably right in saying that, morally, the Barnsley public should get of it's arse and support theclub to better things but, like I said, you're talking about thousands of individuals with other concerns and limited budgets and they're going to need an immediate incentive.

not one striker signing has been a success. not one

    No one is saying that

And as I said yesterday (http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=103871&posts=8#M671319) Davey has done well with signings at the back and OK in midfield

But the killer for us is he spent more on strikers than any other area of the team and got it wrong, and thats whats cost us this season, and even if we stay up unless he fixes it close season, and his track record is awful, we will struggle again.

Ritchies teams scored goals but leaked like a sieve
    Daveys are the opposite

somehow we need to put both together - then we will have a decent season

    Ritchie's team in league 1

... I think the defence may have been tight... but when we went up the defence was found out.

    The defence was very tight

We kept eleventeen clean sheets in the promotion year. It was our defence that got us promoted. Our attack was average at best. I'm not sure what we're supposed to be good at this season. We leak goals and we can't score them, which is pretty much why we've only won 3 games from the last 20 or whatever the stat is.

    I thought it was ..

... I think we couldn't score which meant we didn't win a home game from February (colchester ?) through to the end of the season... Am I right Jay ? because i'm begining to lose my memory in the blizzard of stats and counter stats !

I take it from your posts you've not really calmed down from 4.50pm Saturday afternoon?

Only Barnsley could manage to get to an FA Cup Semi Final, Final or even win it and get relegated in the same season. Its a bit like the 3-3 Ipswich debacle morphed into an entire season.

    A royal f*ck up.

    Aye Chef Tyke

... we should be going to Wembley not giving a **** about the league season as we'd have 52 points already !! The bookies made us favourites to go down .... oh how we scoffed after the Wolves game.... doesn't seem so daft now !

    We won't go down.

I think we will beat Preston and Hull and pick up another point. Its Blackpool/Southampton for me.
