If it is implemented as per Iran... then yes it controls states and removes "democracy" but surely that is extreme implementions of it? I know Muslims that are peacful law-abiding and hard working people who don't have a deep seated loathing of us.
I wouldn't single out Iran as the only state controlled by Islamist leaders. I'd say it's an example of the rule rather than an exception.
The secondsentence baffles me a bit. I know lots of muslims like that too but they won't be the ones in control.

No, I know that... So how do we stop those at the top, hell bent on implementing Sharia Islam without creating enemies in those who are moderate and would be those "not in charge". I guess this is the question that needs to be answered. I'd start with sorting out the Middle East. Or at least arming each side equally.
Unfortunately we don't.
All we could do is oppose the spread of Islam and legislate to ensure it doesn't start to get a foothold in any level of government. Something we won't even consider until it's too late.
I predict that the first significant clash will take place as a result of one of three things.
1) An attempt to remove the powers of the House of Lords.
2) An attempt to remove the royal family as heads of the armed forces.
3) An attempt to interfere with the command structure within the armed forces.

Simple piece of legislation.. no political party shall seek to represent any religious group over another - i.e. enshrine secularism in law. Who said "Bill of Rights"?
There's an easy way around that.
Just claim it's a political party.
Imagine the scenario. 30ish years from now the muslim population has reached 30ish% in enough constituencies. On deadline day, all over the country, candidates for a previously insignificant political party hand in their applications. Everyone can see what just happened, it's obvious that it would be necessary for the others to step down and a single party to go for the votes necessary to stop it but they fail to agree and before we know what hit us the new party is in government.
They then have four years to ensure that they stay there permanently. I think the steps they would have to take would bring about major trouble before the term was up.

But if you outlaw... the promotion of one religion over another by politial parties - you will prevent this. Legislate to ensure that polictical parties are NOT religious parties.
I can see what you're getting at mate.
It would be nice to think we'd spot it in time and the ostriches would allow us todo something aboutit.
