RE: Can you really care about the club..... Some big words there... Don't let Southy see you using them.
Football generates passion And, when adrenalin is flowing, things can be said or posted in the heat of the moment. However, there were a great number of posts yesterday (when you would imagine people would be in a dispassionate & reflective mood) berating fans for querying aspects like Simon Davey's perceived managerial style and team selections and questioning the poster's credentials as a true fan. I don't think I've ever read any of your posts that would fall into that category.
I think I'm just too positive for my own good! All is bright and happy in my head anyway and think it translates to my football views. I try anf forget their second goal and remember the warm felling of happiness when we were playing champagne football in the opening 20 minutes
From 01/01/08 to present our league record stands as Won 6 Drawn 4 Lost 13 Goals F23 A35. If you think Davey is doing a good job and the criticism is not justified then you must be mad. 23 games, 22 points.
But IMHO we would have won more of those games if it wasn't for the cup run and injuries to key players. Also you have to look at the season as a whole, and in October Davey took us in to the play offs against all expectations after the first 2 games
Every relegated team has excuses and that is clearly relegation form. Thats not being pessimistic. It's fact. That's why I'm worried about my club in the hands of Davey.
Well like I said I always tend to see things in a positive light. If the season had been the other way round I think people would have finished on a high. I think he makes mistakes, but I think he gets unfairly blamed for every little thing that goes wrong, and any debate about the team seems to descend in to slaughtering Davey. I think thats the biggest barrier to good suggestions on here more than anything else, and I'd rather us be constructive. Soem criticism's are valid and fair enough.
Mate, you obviously love the club and your positivity is to be applauded but the fact of less than 1 point a game cannot be excused or ignored. The manager is ultimately responsible for delivering consistent results and he's proved that so far he cannot do that. I really don't understand how you can defend that record.
RE: He does deliver consistent results.. We're unlucky though. Thats why. Apparently. And we haven't gelled yet.
Thing is I understand that Davey must remain positive and say the things we would like to hear but the fact remains we have a squad that just isn't good enough for this leauge. Defence is awful (Darren Moore) we have a lack of width as we do not have a left footed full back for LB position, Hassell being played in every position but the one that made him into one of our better players, midfield too limited in style (all weigh abart as much as a rizzla paper) and finally a strikeforce abart as prolific as Andy Cole for England. Obviously we have good players within the squad your Howard's, Da Silva's,JCR's,Fozzy's etc but we have too many players not up to the mark and as a result we will struggle. We need Foster back at CB alongside Souza with Hassell and Kozzy working as full backs (all playing in their right positions) midfield we have 5 or 6 different players who could do a job then attack we have problems. We need an injection of pace, fight and hunger across the park and i'm sorry Moore makes us vulnerable to pace and at times we are going to have serious problems all season because of this.
all this slaging off is totally wrong weve only played two matches and by all accounts been as good if not better than our opponents.(i dont go to away matches) weve got some very good players who for one reason or another havent been available yet .ok weve lost our first two games but didnt manchester last year.what i was dissapointed with most on saturday was our fans very very poor support vocally we have got to make more noise, dont our noisey away fans come to home matches? them lads out there who in my opinion are all giving there best deserve a lot better than we gave them on saturday it works both ways you know
The only reason anyone is slagging the manager off is because we've played 3 and lost 3. One of them to Crewe who are pointless at the bottom of league 1. On top of that we were dire in pre-season and dire in the second part of last season. We are averaging less than a point per game since the new year. If Davey does what he's paid to do and solves that then no one will be slagging him off.
so let me just get this right then...as I am a bit bewildered here first let look at history to date we have had just 5 truly historic occasions at Barnsley 1. 1912 FA cup Winners ...most of us not alive then. 2. 1976 The Premiership ..first time in our existence.... and maybe a lot here not alive 3. 2000 Barnsley at Wembley for the first ever time... playoff final 4. 2006 Barnsley at the Millenium Stadium Play off final winners 5. 2008 Barnsley play new Wembley in the FA cup semi's and you now expect me to accept that Odejayi did us a favour for missing and stopping us from getting to the 6th BIGGEST event in Barnsley's HISTORY YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR TINY MIND PERIOD
RE: so let me just get this right then...as I am a bit bewildered here The excuse of the cup run is B*ll*cks and we all know it. There's no cup run this season and we're still losing games. Portsmouth won the thing yet still looked good in the league. West Brom made the semi but still had a highly successful league campaign. Cardiff didn't implode either as a result of getting to the final. Why do people ignore facts in favour of getting behind an incompetent manager?
i posted those stats too mate its very worrying isnt it? people just seem to be turning a blind eye to it, we are very poor at the minute imho and are not looking like getting better anytime soon
