The point is - why are we confusing differences of opinion with personal abuse?

There is a post in this thread which puts forward a convincing argument to support an opinion which is widely held by many on here. But then the thread ends with the phrase "YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR TINY MIND PERIOD". There are many other examples of the same kind of thing all over the BBS.

Using language like that to abuse someone who merely has a different opinion is antagonistic and is almost expecting to get abuse back, so a vicious circle of abuse develops which soon digresses from the original point about Davey, Odejayi etc and just becomes 2 posters hurling insults at each other. We have all seen this type of thread develop many times recently. I for one have no respect for people who abuse other posters (or the players and mangement, for that matter) in a personal way, regardless of their opinions or views. I do however respect people who put forward an honest opinion, critical or not, of the situation.

If the said post had the last sentence removed, it would still convey the opinion in an adult and civil manner, but with that sentence in it loses most of its credibility.
