You want to lend the video of the 5-0 away win at Wolves? How about the video of when we previously won Sheff Weds in the ZDC? (Danny Wilson was in the Wednesday side) They were both under Machin.
Totally agree on Mel Top man and a real gent I bumped into him in Manchester, shortly after he was sacked. He said Barnsley under John Dennis were a "silly club", not with a hint of bitterness. Can't say he was wrong
Simon Davey

Saved us from certain relegation from the Championship when he took over from Ritchie with a squad of mainly League 1 and 2 players.
Then he started to build up a squad of players who will keep us there. He has had little money to spend and has to work with one of the smallest squads, lowest attendances and with one of the lowest wage bills in the Championship.
Compare his budget with the likes of Sheff U, Wednesday, Derby, Birmingham, Wolves, Preston, etc. and he has done very well.

Allan Clarke for me His appointment was like a veritable whirlwind that went throught the club, fans and town in a way that hadn't been seen before or since. He galvanised everyone. People who had turned their back on their local club, in order to go glory hunting up the M1 at Elland Road, suddenly started turning up at Oakwell claiming undying loyalty to Barnsley! Clarke brought players to Barnsley, who we'd never have a chance of attracting otherwise, simply by being manager. He laid the foundations for us to re establish ourselves as a Second Division club. Norman Hunter took those players and turned them into the best footballing side I've ever seen down at Oakwell. Unfortunately, he was incapable of moving us up to the next level. Danny Wilson not only gave us our proudest moment as a club by taking us to the Promised Land, but he did it with a team that played breathtakingly beautiful football. He also did it on a shoestring budget, especially when compared to the monies spent by the likes of Wolves, Bolton, Birmingham, QPR, Norwich, Palace, Sheffield United, Manchester City & Ipswich. But my final vote would be for Allan Clarke, the first time round.
Can only be Danny Wilson for me Seemed a natural to management to me - came 6th in his first season and would have made the play offs if the Prem was not being reduced in size He was destined for greatness
Can't remember his name The bloke who was manager in the season when we scored more goals and got more points than any other season
Stoke and Reading games At the start of the season. Both 3-0 and both capped with a wondergoal - one from Thompson and one from Sheridan. But most of all both were 90 minutes of men against boys - total domination and superb passing football. It was on those days that I realised we may be onto something this year. Premiership standard football was unfolding in front of my own eyes at Oakwell. I'd never seen anything like it.
I think I agree Having watched us for quite a few years through the '70's and honestly enjoying 4th division football even though we were not very good Clarks arrival was something else. My first and one of my best treasured memories of football was the day we got promoted against Grimsby - missed the kick off due to the queues - it was an evening game so a large last minute rush - crowd of over 21000 - then a 4th division record (pompey topped us since) and an atmosphere I had never experienced before - and rarely since. From then on there has never been any question of supporting anyone else. Hunter did a great job producing the best football I saw regularly with Clarkes players - and Wilson of course performed miracles - but none of that would have happened without Clarke staring the ball rolling.
