I went to the England Costa Rica game at Elland Road in June.I got talking to a Barnsley match day police man in Leeds centre and he said "Naz" wouldn't be involved at Oakwell again.
Why? The vast majority of coppers are decent, honest hard working people serving the public under extremely difficult circumstances. And there is no shame in being a cleaner either.
Well said. Two very different jobs but also two very important and valuable jobs. I'd rather know someone who gets off their arse every day and cleans toilets to earn a honest living than someone who slags that person off and thinks they're better than them.
Out of interest what would you have in their place . Not sure I’d like to live in a country without someone to uphold law and order .
I mustve been very unlucky then. Most coppers Ive met are ones that obviously got bullied at school and give them all a bad rep. I suppose its half and half but if they can't cope with the job then i wish theyd find something else.
I'd say you've been very unlucky if it's as much as half. Of course there will be some arseholes amongst them, there is in any group of people but the majority are just doing their best. It can't be easy working with the public, there are some right arseholes who make their job more difficult than it has to be.
I’ve met quite a few Police over the years who I would term arseholes, but having said that I know about 1/2 a dozen personally and all are good guys. To give balance one of them actively does not like people knowing he is in the Police force when off duty as he says it brings unwanted attention and situations.
That's true and they get a bad rep for little reason just like bouncers do. They don't get paid any extra for getting physical in their job so in a ideal world want to defuse situations with as little fuss as possible and don't see their job as a chance to get away with abusing someone with their power.
