My dad ******* likes it. My dad who was unable to get up off the floor when watching Fawlty Towers or Monty Python he was laughing so hard now likes that ******* ****. It makes me weep. We need a cull.

Re: Warning... Not for the easily offended

I think on the whole the British comedies are better.
And our stand up comedians are a lot better..........some of the American stand ups believe that as well

But the best comedy sit com of all time has to be the later series of 'Everybody Loves Raymond'.
The earlier series are not too good but at least the producers allowed this to develop and flourish.......which is a rarity in the US

Probably I find Raymond so funny is because I live it..........there are a lot of parallels between that show and my own life

Some good shows. American comedies have gone downhill since both Two And An Half Men and How I Met Your Mother finished. Brooklyn Nine Nine is brilliant and Melissa Fumero has to be one of the hottest women on earth. The Middle is a great show mainly due to Brick Heck. Broad City works quite well for low rent comedy thanks in part to Abi Jacobson. Mom with Anna Faris from the Scary Movie franchise wasn't as good second season and the third season will probably be back on iTV2 soon.

'The show revolves around the life of*Italian-American*Raymond Barone, a*sportswriter*forNewsday*living with his family in*Long Island.'

    Sounds uncanny

I'd have booted the telly, made them play charades or something as punishment.

The one thing that Americans do very well are the cartoons as The Simpsons, South Park and Family Guy are all hilarious.

My Name Is Earl was also brilliantly funny, and Frasier wasn't bad. The rest I've seen have all been ***** with Friends being the worst.

Tbh it's just a case of good and bad comedy, when you look at dross like Friends and compare it to some of the utter s***e that we've done, there isn't much difference.

Both awful, and highlight the big problem with American sitcoms - they let them go on for far too long (not that either of those were good to begin with mind). We have the restraint to stop when we're ahead - Fawlty Towers only 12 episodes, same with The Office. If they were American there'd have been 57 series of constantly diminishing returns.

A good example is The Simpsons. It was once must watch viewing - subversive, hilarious and often touching. Now it's utter dross. It should have been put out of its misery at least ten years ago but it's still going.

I can't stand Everybody Loves Raymond. I've seen funnier endoscopies.

There's a lot of good though - Parks and Recreation is great, and Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development are up there with anything we've produced over here.

America is no different to Britain..some good stuff some not so..Its all a matter of taste!...Friends has been slated on here, but I for one like it...its also watched by millions all over the world...as I say..Taste, no ones right no ones wrong..Frazier, Everybody loves Raymond and The Simpsons are also excellent..IMO.

As for British I love the old classics,Fawlty Towers, Rising Damp, Porridge, Fools and Horses etc..more modern stuff like, Phoenix Nights,Early Doors and Not Going Out....I Feckin Hate The Office.
