Re: Dead man walking I disagree, numerous posters have stated that if he is doing this he isn't spending enough time on the club. "Must admit that winds me up as well - I would seriously have expected that his day job doesn't leave him the spare time to get involved to this degree in local kids football, worthy aim though it is. If that is what he is interested in then I very much hope that he will shortly be able to devote as much time as he likes to it". "At the time I thought it was quite novel and when we're doing well, everything is looked upon in a different light. For the record, I'm not too bothered about this but it would be nice to know that he's giving us his full attention at the moment". "So who's looking after the team while he's doing this then? He's gone down a couple of notches in my estimation after this - and I'm one who is saying don't get rid, give him a chance". "I'm even more baffled with Flitcroft now. I'm all for developing young kids but surely his efforts should be in his day job. At Barnsley. I thought Keith was a pr1ck but this guy is beginning to wind me up. Please get rid and get someone in who actually gives a **** about us". Regarding your point about changing his ethos, I think you're totally correct. He's said in numerous interviews that Hill focused too far into the future and ignored immediate results. I think the pressure to get results, and the contacts Ben Mansford has open to him, has led to a more short-term approach and in turn the signing of loan players. I don't think that's the correct model for the club, but I agreed with most of what they did in pre-season so I'm not going to criticise them for things not working out as planned. I'd rather they worked their way out of it, and developed genuine strategic plans for the club. Not constant fire-fighting year after year.
