An elderly neighbour with dementia - guidance required

    Just to follow up.... we've just swung by and at least managed to hand over the little pack of info for her to look through.

    What's really obvious now is she's extremely worried that any escalation means he'll go in a home, or she might lose her home. So much of the dialogue was to say thats the very end of the spectrum of help. That people could come and sit with him or give a bit of assistance in other areas and that we were happy to help too if that would help.

    If I'm truthful, my instinct says I don't think she's going to do anything, not yet at least. We did leave her with the thought of having a chat with her GP as they could maybe help (so it wasn't a social services initial point of contact which seems to be the point of her main anxiety) and some helplines for carers, for befriending, and age UK (along with a few others).

    I think we've reached the limit of what we can do for now and just hope that in time, and not too long, that she reaches out for help and support.

    All that's left is for us to be vigilant and just keep an eye out.

    Feeling quite sad about it all.
