I only met Sparky for a chat. Al though I did hear Jay's dulcet tones when he asked Arjan about Tony Blair! Sorry I didn't get to see you, old mate. I know what you mean about being choked up! The bugger only sent Christmas cards to Christopher & Laura, not to Crystal & myself!
I thought I was now immune to stories about Laura. I don't mean that in a callous way, it's just we've spoken about her a lot, so I can usually be pragmatic about the situation rather than sentimental. Not sure I'd be doing any of you any good if I just cooed and told you how brave you all are. Things are what they are, people get on with it and it seems to me that, despite the hand she was dealt, Laura is living a damn good life by anyone's standards. I wish I was living in Ambleside studying forensic science. But I was fighting back the tears tonight. Fantastic story, brilliantly told. Well done mate.
Good job tonight Matthew. The reason Arjan didn't remember the victory over Man Utd at Oakwell was that he didn't play in the game. He got injured and had to be substituted in the initial tie at Old Trafford and hadn't recovered for the game at Oakwell. That's why Scott Jones was playing, who scored the two goals. Difficult to remember a game you're not involved in when every single game that season was a cup final. He also confused the Liverpool game with the Tottenham game in the cup the following season which is why he spoke of Adie Moses being sent off. I reckon the Barnsley players were just as ****** off about that game as they were about the Liverpool game. Adie Moses was given the job of marking Ginola in the Tottenham game. It worked a treat, Ginola didn't get a kick. The ref didn't like that, sent Moses off for nothing allowing Ginola to score that ******* goal. It wouldn't have happened if Moses was still on the field as he had Ginola in his back pocket. Thanks for the tickets.
