I'm off to support a massive club like Sheffield Wednesday. I might have an owl tattooed on my foreskin. Best place for a delusional glory fan like myself. Si Thi .
Yes there’s literally two options either take our approach and sell everyone and everything including the grass or be like Bolton, Wigan etc. clubs like Luton literally don’t exist. There’s no enthusiasm or impetus from the fans as we all know there’s no point as anyone decent will get flogged off. It’s just Groundhog Day. Though at the minute we have no one really worth selling so that option may not last.
Thanks for the write up @Marc much appreciated, same to @Hooky feller for his contribution. Not really a whole lot revealed but doesnt sound like much hidden or avoided either which is a positive. Nice to hear from the revenue guy and hope he does well. Also appreciate the honesty about atmosphere in the ground BUT I think Khaled needs to think about why the atmosphere is so dead and realise its largely because of the clubs actions over the last few years which have drained the life out of fans rather than making digs at the fans for being quiet. We're quiet because of years of lies and stupid decisions coupled with the worst fan experience getting to, from and whilst at oakwell that I remember in near enough 30 years of attending. Keep mending bridges, keep being approachable and HONEST and open and fans will warm. Get some effort put into improving the matchday experience and fans will be in a better mood. And Mr Duff, keep winning matches and fans will eventually stop shitting themselves when we're winning, its just that we're used to throwing it away. Basically try not to blame fans for being negative, realise its down to the clubs errors and keep trying to put them right and fans will back you. All in all a fairly positive meeting it seems.
If it was so simple as throwing money at a club. Stephen. Ipswich. Sunderland and wendy for example wouldn't have been stuck in league one for long periods. Chansiri has taken the fowls fans for an expensive ride to try recoup some of his losses. Flouted efl rules as did wigan. ( who seem to be in bother again).
The more I hear or read of Duff the more I like him. He just says it how it is and on a level that fans can identify with. He espouses honesty, hard-work and humility in others and importantly leads by example exhibiting all of those traits in spades himself.
The owners are putting in money out of bare necessity. Without shareholder injections the club isn’t getting through this season. Things are better and there is a desire to build bridges but, after the last five years, there is a lot of work to be done.
