McPhail was a far bigger loss to us than Howard...... and Howard is doing exactly the same as McPhail, let the greedy little get go, we move on.

RE: Brian Howard has been our best player since returning to this league To say he has one good game in every half dozen is probably flattering to him.
RE: McPhail was a far bigger loss to us than Howard...... Neither of them played well enough often enough.
He won the player of the year the season before And last season he came second. A 1st and 2nd in the two player of the year polls since returning to this league. So, if we're using these polls as the criteria, as you clearly want to, then it's plainly obvious that he's been our best player.
I reckon we should let him go. His heart is obviously not in it anymore. His performances this season have not been up to his usual standard. But I also think it will be a massive loss. Anybody who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves. He has been our top player for 2-3 years. His goals have kept us ticking along as a club in a time when goals from strikers have been scarce. I have never considered him to be a PL standard player, just not quite consistent enough, but he is definitely worthy of a top FLC side, and the chance to get a taste of PL football. I would consider SU to be a club in that bracket. It's sad that he is leaving us as he has been an important part of our recent successes. But we need to move on, if he doesn't want to be a part of our future then thank him for his contribution, get what we can for him, wish him luck, and let him go. Leon now has a chance to prove that he can replace him. Personally, I don't think he is quite good enough to replace him directly but he may bring something different that BH didn't. But it is the goals that we desperately need to replace, and that has got to be the burden of the strikers rather than another midfielder.
Fact of the matter is, Howard was told he was the best midfielder in the division by the club this close season. He has then not been offered a new contract. Seems the price tag was just to talk up the price tocash in on him after last seasons cup run put him in the spotlight. You can't do that to someone and expect them not to be pissed off with you. Seems to me the club just wanted as much cash for him as they could get and never really wanted him to stay.
I disagree. McPhrail wasn't half the player for us that Howard has been. And Howard has been doing it in a higher division for a longer period of time.
