I'm not debating that, I'm debating the pros and cons of loans. Yes they're not our players we're developing but if they're ***** we don't get stuck with them.

Although on the point you've now raised, I'm pretty sure LJ wanted to give Wilkinson a 3 year contract so yeah we'd either still be stuck with him or have paid him off by now.

No, thats why we got them on loan, showing the benefits of the loan system to club like ours.

So you loan someone, if they're good you might get a tune out of them and you send them back to their parent club as better players, leaving you short of players. If they're **** you don't sign them or play them and send them back to their parent club. Leaving you short of players.

How many of the loan deals last season worked out for us?

In my opinion, which you will disagree with, without the loan players, we wouldn"t be in the Championship. Obviously not every signing works out, but that is also the same with permanents, but I think the loan system, at least gives us chance of bringing a quality of player we would not be able to bring if every player had to be a permanent signing. Regarding last season, I think Matty James, Ryan Kent & to a degree Armstrong were all useful additions, whilst Gethin Jones despite being raw was still worth bringing to the club.

You can be a victim of success. (At least success that isn't backed with a sh!tload of cash).
Davies & Hammill we'll keep. Townsend should move to actually play a game every now & then. Roberts we need a BIG offer for, but will be gone by the season end.

I don't see Hammill leaving us unless we get shut of him, Roberts will gone by next summer on a free if we don't sell him, Townsend will be probably be released next summer having not played a game in two years and Davies I reckon will be here for at least another 5-6 years while he hits his peak unless obviously we get rid

Too many loans. Too much shortirmism. Too much player power. Poor contract negotiation. Greed. A lack of ambition. Modern football.

All of the above to one extent or other.

I'll give you the first one. Even though I think folk got a bit carried away with him. Kent flattered to deceive, Armstrong didn't pull his weight hence his 1 in 5 strike rate. Can't believe anyone would rate Gethin Jones.

I think that Huddersfield Town showed that the loan system can be used to a clubs advantage.

I just think with Jones, he has potential & is adaptable, but like a lot of young players, he is up & down. He had some ropey games but against Leeds, I thought he was outstanding.
