    Maybe so

But, he is completely ineffective - and has been for some time.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what his role is within the team. I'm not picking one ONE player...

Why is everyone so quick to pigeonhole people on here as "Davey haters" or "Odejayi haters". Likewise they seem very quick to pigeonhole people as "typical of people on here who hate the only player to keep the ball on the floor etc.etc."

Why can't we just agree to disagree more without all the genralistic statements?

    I for example;
-think Davey has had enough chances despite the cup run
-think Ode has had enough chances despite his pre-season form
-think DeSilva is lethargic and over-rated
    -think Devaney is under-rated.

This shouldn't necessarily land me in a box with (for example say) everyone who thinks Davey should go. It's just a point of view, not a statement of fact.

Get over yourselves and maybe it would be a little more pleasant on here without all the ridiculous factions and "with me or against me" attitudes.

    Just a thought like...

wind up?? He was the only player on our side who showed any quality today! Let down badly by poor performances all around him. Anyone who picks out ADS for criticism today after those performances by the rest must be taking the p*ss!

Agreed - I thought Anderson got involved and was one of our better players today. As someone else said, there was often NO width, no-one on the wings to spray the ball to.

Totally agree, thought he was shocking today, my girlfriend disagrees, but personally i thought he was poor in the first half and marginally better in the 2nd.

i despair. I'd hesitate in playing the ball out to the likes of Kozluk and JCR yesterday when they showed a complete inability to keep the ball. Im sure he would like to play quick pass and move football, but if the lads around you arent up to it, it wont happen. I feel that he's often wasted in our side - and wasted on 1 or 2 of you lot.

    RE: I couldn't disagree more.

I saw most of the reserve team games last season and your observations on Butterfield are spot on.

He has two good feet and he can pick a pass. However presently he does not tackle, track back or pick men up/mark up.

As you said and I agree, he needs to show that he can play when he hasn't got the ball otherwise he will be no use to any team particularly away from home when you generally have less possession.

You must be out of your mind.

Anderson is a class act. His first two yards are in his head. He keeps the ball better than anyone else in the side and he's virtually unplayable (for the opposition) when he's really playing well.

I could give you Bobby Moore and you'd moan that he didn't put his foot through it enough.

You want sophisticated, cultured pass and move football - where we beat teams by playing them at football (rather than just heavy running, hit it long *****) then Anderson is absolutely essential.

BTW were you one of those who used to give Steve Agnew stick as well? I could never understand that at all.

    Exactly

And why would Bristol City (who play good football) offer over £1m for him if he was *****?

Gary Johnson obviously doesn't agree, as doesn't Davey.

The criticism of Anderson really irritates me - everyone wants us to play football and he's the only one that tries to do it and is capable of doing it. Not his fault that his midfield partner didn't really have interest in defending and that our wingers had absolute shockers - and that every time he tried a through ball, Bogdanovic was offside.

De Silva passed the ball out to the wing loads of times and kept missing his target. Everytime he ran about trying to tackle people he barely came away with the ball. He was garbage and you cant blame other players for his **** performance.

He didn't give the ball away for the first half hour. He just watched time and again as other people gave it away. He picks the ball up and they all run off, generally to an offside position.

If we're classing Anderson, far and away our best player, as garbage, then we may aswell stop bothering and just accept relegation now.

He played midfield on his own.

Not just central midfield on his own, midfield on his own. The rest of the midfield had an absolute nightmare. He gave the ball away a couple of times but at least he's capable of keeping it and tries to pass it on the ground instead of hoofing it up at strikers that can't head.

RE: You must be out of your mind.

Anderson is a class act who lays the ball off intelligently, but sometimes needs longer to do it than is ideal. That's why I think he was at his best backing someone like Howard up, rather than making quick decisions in and around the box.
