The plan, so far as I can see, is to set up what looks like a challenger company focusing on clean energy. It's ambitious, but probably a less cumbersome, less-bureaucratic route than an old-style nationalization. Time will tell how successful it is, but I'm up for them trying.

Labour’s plan for GB Energy – The Labour Party

When the story broke, the mail carried it for 13 consecutive days. Since the police statement,,,,,, not a word.
The definition of gullible should be changed to 'British people '.

Sorry, what I meant was that by creating national owned energy company that essentially nationalises energy companies doesn't it because it doesn't matter what other energy companies are doing if the cheaper one is publicly owned.

Or are they just planning on actually producing energy and we'd still have to buy it from npower etc?

They will be a publicly owned energy generation company. I've seen little on the reseller strategy. My feeling is that they will need to build up capacity before entering the reseller market, which may be more problematic at the outset. I said earlier in the thread that EDF do both from France, but they have a large nuclear power network.

From some of his now-deleted Tweets, I can't see how Akehurst can continue to stand as a candidate. He comes across as a thoroughly nasty piece of work.

Akehurst also tried to get the rapper Lowkey removed from Spotify - and the campaign manager from that attempt is now the leader of the Conservative friends of Israel.

They have already made a mess with the Diane Abbott situation and run the risk of her getting elected as an independent instead of their own candidate somewhere.

Abbott her ex shag piece Corbyn are showing their true colours. They're not interested in helping the working class they're interested in helping themselves both are well over retirement age and should bugger off to Corbyns allotment and sit in his shed to discuss the theories of Karl Marx or what ever it is old commies do in retirement, instead of trying their best to prevent what they claim to want a labour government. If the Tories get back in because those two couldn't accept that their times over I hope they live to regret it.

I think the fact that, if they stood as Independents they would win with large majorities, shows that their constituents believe they are interested in helping them.
I don't understand why Labour are happy to shoot themselves in the foot, throwing away safe seats, whilst welcoming newly reformed tories, who the electorate will see for what they are, even if Starmer accepts them with glee.

Because she's not up to the job. She was a disaster as shadow home secretary. Her and Corbyn have had their chances and blew them. They are both trying to derail the labour campaign and yet claim to want rid of the Tories. She clearly as health issues which were evident when she was addressing her supporters. If Abbot and Corbyn really cared about the labour party and the people who desperately need a labour government they'd accept their time is up and move on, the fact they aren't shows they are self serving self obsessed narcissistic traitors. They may have been left wing firebrands in the 70s and 80s now they are just sad old people who need to retire gracefully.

They are there to represent their constituents, not the nation. If their constituents are more than happy with their performance why should anyone else care.

Corbyn and Abbot are carrying on like Tory Fifth Columnists in my opinion, working to undermine the Labour party and anybody who works for a living.

    Embarrassing post.

If by some miracle the Tories get in it will be completely the fault of Starmer & the right of the party for been that overconfident about the election due to the Tories collapse that they’ve chosen to try & bully people on the left out of the party because they feel they can’t lose.

Make no mistake if they thought the election was in the balance they wouldn’t be targeting MP’s like Abbott and putting racists like Akehurst in safe seats.

    These are completely bizarre posts.

Both Corbyn & Abbott have tried to continue in their roles as MP’s. They haven’t courted the media.

Both have constantly been targeted by their own party & the opposition as political football.

She’s a diabetic & was having a hypo. She got her sums wrong once. Big deal.

Starmer’s been caught out lying that many times he doesn’t even know what the truth is or what he’s previously said. The Tories lurch from one embarrassment to another yet Corbyn & Abbott are the ones who need to retire.

It would be interesting - unless I've missed it - to know what evidence Diane Abbott relies upon to say that she has been barred from standing for Labour. It's common knowledge that the candidate approval meeting hasn't taken place yet, and Keir has categorically denied that any decision to bar her has been made. If she has such evidence she ought to make it public. If she hasn't, then it begins to look like a confected row to serve who knows what purpose.
