Shes been an MP for 37 years and Stammer can’t say with days to submitting candidates details if she been selected or not but no it’s all Diane Abbots fault , Labtories don’t you just love them .

 

Except that he has said she isn't barred and the final endorsement lies with the NEC, does it not?

 

Give over most candidates were endorsed months ago , the ‘investigation’ into Abbot finished in December , it’s a joke and don’t get started on the Faiza Shaheen , debacle , Starmers embarrassing himself

Re the comment on racism. She apologised straight away. For fear of offending. But I think most reasonable minded people understood what she meant.
And attend a course as requested.

 

So the story is based on a briefing which looks to have been untrue, and given by an "unknown Labour source"? Wouldn't you expect someone of Diane's experience and intelligence to have confirmed that information with someone in authority before taking at face value a newspaper report from an unnamed source? Instead she convened a rally to get her supporters fired up about her unconfirmed banning. Something doesn't add up!

 

She hasn’t been endorsed by the NEC when she’s been the MP for 37 yrs and has indicated publicly on many occasions she wants to stand again , but you know that

 

My understanding is that all 600+ candidates will not be formally endorsed until the meeting next week. But in any event, she only had the whip restored on Tuesday, so wouldn't have been eligible for endorsement before that?

Labour doing it's dirty washing in public again...Won't see the Tories doing this cos it's all behind closed doors. In the case of Diane Abbot she said what she said and heard is heard even if you apologise later. She may well have worded it badly but surely the vast experience she has in public life told her to steer clear of remarks like this. Starmer on the other hand may be a my way or the highway type of leader so anything that rocks the boat gets removed. This could be what he's referring to by "changed" Labour party...looks like he'll get in but I don't think it'll be the predicted landslide..

Locally or nationally? My understanding (and I may be wrong) was that all had to be re-endorsed ahead of the election. Happy to be corrected though.

Point still stands though that Abbott couldn't have been endorsed before restoration of the whip. If she has had notification that she is barred from standing then she ought to spell it out, because either she is not telling the truth or Starmer isn't. If she didn't, and went off an unconfirmed 'unknown Labour source' then she has gone off half-cocked in my view.

 

She will know exactly what’s happening & who the sources are. There’s a couple of left wingers on the NEC who are outnumbered by Akehurst & co who are out to get her.

Yep and pretty certain the Tory lot would not only disassociate themselves from anyone making remarks like this but would be showing
how "Tough" they are on this subject. inless you know of a case that's different..always happy to listen and learn .
