Oh, I have. It's apologists like you who will cause more deaths to horses. It's ironic that the biggest fence on the course hasn't seen a fatality in over ten years, but the ones who the PC brigade have seen fit to fvck about with have seen four in the past two years.
More horses will die in a field than will die at the National, should we ban keeping horses in a field?
I said what I think last year and I'm not bothered if people agree or not. You can take your abuse, your little facts and your 30 odd posts and go wind up someone else. I've been around the block a few too many times to be arsed. Tara.
The National will never be banned. Its the greatest horse race in the world. Watching Red Rum win it three times were fantastic moments in sport. Will be having a few quid on and hoping for a great race. if you dont like it dont watch it stick to your knitting
Surely that would mean they died of natural causes then and not because they were blindly leaping to their death being fit, young and healty! Jeez! Would it be ok to let children do the same in the name of sport ? Run along children, jump to your death
How many Horse's died at Cheltenham a couple of week ago? NONE but a jockey was left paralysed and nobody seems to mention that. The PC brigade obviously think a Horse is worth more than a human. Lets ban everything and sit on our hands for the rest of time to keep the do gooders happy
It's not necessarily that they think a horse is worth more, just that it's up to humans if they want to risk their own lives, horses get less of a choice.
If not wanting animals to die in the name of sport makes Me a do gooder, then so be it. Horses don't make the choice, jockeys do! I'm not saying ban the sport but more could be done to make the sport safer.
Horses die in fields by other causes too. One horse for example, Great Endeavour, ran into a tree whilst on his summer break on his owners farm. His owner found him the next morning in great pain and slowly dying. Is this a more humane way to die? A slow death is certainly more painful than being euthanised on the spot. And everyone slop replying to the posters who give it the old 'anyone who wants the national band is a wet lettuce'. It is much more difficult to reason with facts that aggressive smart arse comments.
But you might argue that the horse (albeit rather stupidly) chose to run into that tree on it's own accord. Until horses can speak and say they want to take part then I'll have more sympathy for them getting hurt than their riders.
Maybe so. Although the incident was overnight, so its unlikely that the horse saw said tree - so it "ran blindly to its death". What are people's opinions on the alterations made by animal welfare groups? Seeing as they have inadvertedly raised the death rate through ill educated meddling.
I appreciate their trying to help, perhaps more research on their part could have helped, or the people who agreed to lower the fences could have argued their point better and together they could have come up with an actual safer alternative. However, the figures given above with the 0.33 compared 0.9 deaths cover much different time spans, so I'm not sure they can be used fairly to compare.
Animal Welfare Groups didn't make any changes, they don't have the power to do so. They have not done any 'ill educated meddling', the course director made the changes and this was probably down to public pressure as well as from animal welfare groups the actual changes in the end were down to Aintree http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/horse-racing/22022076
Katie Walsh says she loves horses but then twice condraticts herself and ends by saying 'they are horses at the end of the day'. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/horse-racing/21994749 If someone killed my dog I wouldn't say 'he's a dog at the end of the day'. She couldn't care less about them.
I thought that when I read her interview. She goes on about that jockeys injuries but he made the choice to race, the horses don't have a choice.
Therefore the changes were made due uneducated meddling/moaning. Had the animal welfare group said nowt, I doubt changes would have been made. They have ruined a great race. It was much better whe the fences where higher and more of a test. Im not a racing fan but always liked to watch the National and have a bet. Sad that horses die, but to be honest I dont really lose any sleep over it.
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it, I must say I find it shocking and it sickens me but we're all different.
It's the uneducated meddlers that brought an end to slavery and child labour in this country, campaigned for child welfare reform, an end to the workhouse culture and rights for the elderly, free education and healthcare for all, formed unions and lobbied for workers rights, lobbied governments for institutional reform and social justice, exposed the church and various institutions guilty of child exploitation, abuse and human rights violations, campaigns unendingly in support of human rights globally. The animal rights movement is an extension of all the above instigated by the same wishy washy left/liberal 'group' of people and motivated by the same reasons. Bloody meddling do-gooders!
