Annoying Habits from other drivers

Coming back from Wembley up the A1. There is the stretch of four lane super highway from Alcolnbury to Peterborough, a wonderful open road where you can really get a move on.
There was this driver who stayed for miles in the THIRD lane, so others were passing him/her in the first, second and fourth lanes.
What goes on in someone's head to need to be in the third lane, do they feel deprived of something vital if they're seen in the first lane? ******.

It's still fcking stupid plodding around clear roads at 40 when there's no need to.

 

I know that stretch well and it's very common. I think it's basically middle lane syndrome on a 4 lane motorway, ****s.

 

I sometimes 'plod' along at 40-45 on country lanes if I've never been down them before. You just never know what's going to be around the corner/how steep the corner is going to be/if some other person is going to come along in the opposite direction and take the corner by mainly being on your side of the road (I've seen this happen lots of times). If I dont know the road well I'm going slower and getting there in one piece.

But driving on the motorway at 45-50mph in decent weather conditions is annoying and causes accidents

When I was younger, I used to drive really fast when I had hardly any petrol left, so that I get to the petrol station before it ran out completely

 

Oh yes if you're not sure of the road, but I used to see it most days by the pillocks. I lived in an area where you wouldn't bloody go if you didn't live there because there was bugger all near me.

Don't blame the driver for being a bad driver---it's the person that passed them that's to blame.

 

Drivers that pull out in front of you and then turn right slowing you down second time when they could have waited a couple of seconds to let you go by?

 

When the lights turn green and the car at the front takes a good five seconds to start moving.

People who don't notice that their indicator hasn't clicked off and drive miles down a road with it flashing away.

People who don't realise that lights are predominantly for other drivers to see you and don't put them on in driving rain or until it's almost pitch black.

People who are totally oblivious to speed limit changes - mainly thinking of the few areas round Barnsley where you get a 40mph section yet I'm stuck behind someone who continues to do 30. Or on the flip side, driving down the A17 you'll normally end up stuck behind someone doing 40 in a 60, yet they continue to do 40 when the limit drops to 30!

If it was up to me, anyone caught doing any of the above would get at least six points because it just shows they are not concentrating.

By far the worst is number 2 because it's incredibly dangerous. I'd estimate at least 90% of drivers, and probably more, drive far too close to the car in front. Obviously this can cause pile-ups amongst other things. Happened most of my 3 hour journey back from Wales today despite it being very wet and visibility being very poor.

It's the one thing that really gets on my nerves when driving.

Not necessarily - people do what's required to pass and then either deliberately or through slackness develop bad habits.

 

drivers who constantly pull in to touch the inside lane

despite the fact that its blatantly obvious that will put them behind slower moving traffic and that they will have to move back out again almost immediately.
Its like they have to make a statement that they are not hogging a lane.

 

Doing 40 in a 50 zone in the right hand lane just because your turning right in two miles time, eh!!!

 

1. Women who own ridiculously big 4x4's (mainly for the school run) and can't actually drive them competently.

2. The same woman who own these 4x4's and seem to think it's ok to open their rear drivers side door into the middle of the road so they can get the brats out.

 

Cutting corners - honestly some people must think they are on a race track and take the formula 1 line round a bend with their vehicle almost completely on the other side of the road.

There's also those that drive almost down the middle of the road - Burton Road yesterday, all this car had to do was move left a couple of feet and I'd have been able to get between him and the parked cars, but no he insisted on coming down the road with his wheels on the central road markings.
