RE: Gun license, jobs in politics Spent all my career so far working in agencies where clients just give you ridiculously short deadlines, and then expect you to turn it around. I have a feeling I may not be tactful enough for the procrastination bit. I may end up talking myself into involuntary redundancy!
I think it's going to be very different to my last two jobs which have been companies of 20 people. I'll be glad to get rid of some of the agency crap, but I'm under no illusion that not just I'll be swapping things for a different version of crap, rather than an easier life. I'm a bit daunted about going from tiny company to massive corporate machine.
How long were you there? I thought from your last post you thought they were a good company.

RE: Gun license, jobs in politics 5 years nigh on. No, they're very good. They look after and respect their staff and let you have the rewards you deserve. Mrs. Addio is still there after 6 years of service. She would make anyone a good boss, mostly because she's so bloody bossy. You're up Whitney way if memory serves, so not too bad a commute then.
RE: Gun license, jobs in politics Now they've done the underpass at Chievely then it's a nice smooth run from Witney, probably 50 minutes if nobody crashes on the A34, which is less time than it took me to get to go about half the distance toother side of Oxfordnear the M40.
There are some nice things about where I am now - 15 minutes from home,Cotswold pubs at lunchtime - but I'm looking forward to being in a bigger company and it's nice to know they look after their staff.
I was gutted when I read the handbook and saw 2 weeks paid paternity leave. I've got three kids now and my previous employers have all done the stautary £100 a week ... so I took annual leave. I don't know anyonewho can afford to take two weeks (practically) unpaid when they've just had a baby! If my wife finds out about that she'll by trying to talk me into number 4

RE: Gun license, jobs in politics No. 4! Streuth! I was miffed with number 1, when the boy came along I knew it was the end of being a BFC fan as I'd known it.
RE: Gun license, jobs in politics I've got the eldest Isabelle (almost 4) going to Soccertots on a Saturday morning, learning to shoot and dribble. She loves it. She's desperate to go to the football with dad on a Saturday ... I'm just waiting until I think she's old enough to actually enjoy the game, I don't want the first game to be a disaster because she's bored

I'm not and never will be a dog fan having been attacked 4 times in my life, and left phobic as a result. But it would seem that large dogs that can be so potentially dangerous should either be added to the dangerous dogs register, or only be allowed to be owned by people who have proved their worthiness some way or another.
