Seems strange
Chip and Pin isn't something you can opt into. It's mandatory. The card companies have been issuing chip and pin hardware and replacing non chip and pin systems FOC for years. I can only guess they have a special dispensation due to the integration with the ticketing software.

RE: Can't quite understand this! The card swiped ok and I was given the voucher to sign. On checking the signature the clerk then noticed that one end of the signature strip had worn away. Both he and the supervisor made a big thing about it despite the signature itself being intact. This is why they said the card was void.
RE: That has been my experience also Depends who you get and what the situation is. A few seasons ago I had to request a change of seats for a couple of matches as I had just had a foot operation and didn't want it trampling on. Did it without a fuss for the first game, but the second time I got the same Mrs Jobsworth as today who made a right issue out of it. Anything out of the ordinary, requiring a bit of common sense, seems out of their scope.
In which case I think the club are being over officious here. IF the signature is readable and compares with that on the voucher, I can see no reason why they should consider the cc as void. The banking system has confirmed the card as valid (i.e. not returned a void code) which indicates the magnetic strip (which contains all the relevant information) is not damaged and wear & tear of the card, in this case the signature strip, is unavoidable over time. If I'm understanding you correctly, you provided further proof of your signature for comparison purposes so, given for some unknown reason they don't have the latest cc technology in the Box Office - then in my view BFC have fallen down yet again with their customer service. I know they consider that they are often unfairly criticised about their PR and customer-facing dealings, but they often do nothing to help themselves in this regard. Fans want to be proud of their club in every aspect, on the pitch and in their professionalism with the media, fans and so on - which is why BFC get the adverse comments they do. Personally, I'd take this matter up with your cc company, asking them to explain why the club (as the ccc's agent) refused your card, when the sytem acknowledged it as being valid. You never know - you might just get a £25 credit!
Well that's bizarre then! because the signature is so smudged on my card that it's indecipherable, and I used it ok last week. Obviously no consistency.
Was it the right hand side of the signature strip that was worn? If so it may have been that the security number couldn't be read, still not really and excuse for shoddy service.
No it's the left end. The security number was fine, although this is only used when you buy over the phone or on the internet.
RE: Well that's bizarre then! You obviously didn't have to deal with Mrs Jobsworth, the Box Office supervisor then!
