Another ISIS UK hostage killed....

Sorry DB but you are completely wrong on this one - do some research on IS and then consider whether the Western hostages stood a chance. Some of them were executed in retaliation for humanitarian aid work and there have also been countless Muslims executed by these maniacs. You should read the recent report on human rights under IS in Syria, the bits that highlight mass executions, crucifixions, amputations, rape, slavery and human trafficking make sickening reading.

 

Russian civilians very rarely get taken hostage because historically terrorists know that if you - for example - take over an aeroplane with hostage passengers in Russian airspace, a MiG is likely to just shoot the plane down and kill everyone on board. Take a cinema complex? The tear gas is coming in anyway.

With American and British hostages they know that they can get some mileage - we do negotiate with terrorists, and we show the impact of their actions very publicly. I have no doubt that is more satisfying for them than when Russians are just not bothered.

My point is not that Russian tactics are better - it's just not true that we don't try to secure the release of hostages alive.

The ISIS group is not interested in a political solution. They abduct people to kill them. They are Monsters, they thrive on barbaric acts, and make propaganda out of the emotional and psychological pain they inflict through their killings.

We can't negotiate with ISIS or allow them to use human Shields. I feel for this poor man and his family that have survived him. He was clearly a very good man - a humanitarian who left his own country to respond to children in need abroad. There are few that are so brave or so dedicated to their values and principles. I really don't want to receive news of either another person (of any nation) being abducted or murdered.

So we have to take a military response to this threat. I don't for one minute think that will stop at bombing. All the talk of 'no boots on the ground' is rubbish. We're in or we're out now.

 

Bombing alone is not the answer and all the countries and factions in or around these countries have their own agenda and will be fighting each other as well as isis.
Yes we have to help these people and stop the march of this horrible ideology but what then ?
We went into afghanistan after al Queda and what a fekin mess we made there we ended up fighting a losing battle with the Taliban and made no gains whatsoever.yes we destroyed their training camps but Al Queda went from strength to strength and were a more formidable force than the Iraqi army when we imo unjustifiably invaded thanks to new labour and conservative parties.
Every time the west intervenes to stop an extreme ideology we end up creating a far worse one than we originally tried to eliminate..
The middle east is a couldron of hate and and ethnic/religious infighting which only the people living there can sort out.
We should have intervened but only with a vision of what the aftermath has in store for the region otherwise in years to come another organisation will come to the fore and in true to form will be Worse than the last.

All current IS member dead, all future ones dead, and the message out their that says "Don't **** with us", problem solved for a very long time....
