I'd have to agree with that. I don't agree with what the essence of what the original poster said and gave his post a critique to say so. However, he has a right to an opinion and didn't insult anybody
I shouldn’t explain - but I will. Oakwell is very rarely that quiet. And when it is it’s because we are being battered. But not this time - we were playing great passing football and dominating - but the only sound you could hear was the players talking to each other. Very strange. Weird.
Well, i’m grateful for the explanation. But I think we must go to two different grounds. Oakwell is rarely like Camp Nou. Yesterday was no different except (I thought) rather more encouragement from the Stands when their Star Player (Mr Bond) started to turn it on.
I thought yesterday was a great reflection on how football matches can change despite a team dominating play like we did in the first half. Lots of factors I'd think - opponents coming out after a half time talking to, they went much more direct, we lost Bahre who I thought was leading our pressing as well as having an outstanding game. Whilst respecting Nudger's opinion fully, I see yesterday's performance as a good indicator that we do have what it takes to go up. We've all seen sides over the years dominate, concede, and then throw the gabe away. Davies had little to do yesterday. I'm glad football isn't an exact science. We've picked up 9 points with three different performances, been excellent at times, shown resolve at others. Been a very enjoyable week as a reds fan.
I don’t think they Charlton lifted their game - I thought Barnsley realised it was a stroll and so took their foot off the peddle slightly. That gave Charlton encouragement. Like I said we absolutely battered them - BUT you can’t give teams, especially teams near the top, any chance to get back in the game, because they will grab it. The team has to learn how to put their dominance into goals scored.
Not saying your opinion is wrong, I just see it differently. We could have been out of sight by half time, but we did convert our early dominance into 2 goals. Had we not scored, we might have all been feeling very different at 97 minutes. I genuinely enjoy games with twists and turns. As long as we win!
