    Cheers, looking forward to visiting!

It's not a place I'd thought about before but the Mrs wanted to go to some gig and Antwerp was the only date that coincided with her next visit over here so "we" decided to go for it.

I visited a couple of weeks back so the missus could go to "chocolate world". I was hoping Antwerp was going to be good but there wasn't much to recommend it, particularly when Bruges isn't that far away. Worth a visit though...

I got all excited about Chocolate World there, but it doesn't seem to be what I expected!

Are you Hull - Rotterdam or Zeebrugge?

The Rotterdam ferry is a bigger, nicer, newer ship and it's almost the same driving distance to Antwerp. Also sails later so you have longer in Antwerp.

Choose the Rotterdam ferry if you can.

I've been across a few times on both routes for work although only been to Antwerp once so far, I usually go to Beerse.

The Rotterdam ferry is the best one out of the two.

Visited Antwerp a few years ago.

I love Belgium. Vast amount of beers (DeKoninck is the most local I believe) and try Leffe Ruby. On the main avenue in front of the station theres a little place that seems like a tourist trap on the left, huge amount of beers but gives details on all of them in the menu.

Old squares and statues, an emerging Quayside, stunning train station (which sounds weird I know!) and one of the oldest zoo's in the world.

80% of the worlds diamonds pass through Antwerp so a roaring trade there and worth a wander round the diamond quarter.

    Enjoy!

You know what I've noticed since moving here? Everything is a 4 hour drive away :D

Amsterdam, Antwerp, Munich, the moon. Bloody Germans.

Oh.... and trace the little bar that sells "genevers".... a very old style gin bespoke to antwerp. a little shop next to it that serves every type you can imagine. Try the original which is the best of the bunch, only about 20% and sip or the locals look at your disapprovingly for not respecting it!

I was really surprised with Antwerp. Nowhere near as tourist driven as Bruges and plenty of the splendour of brussels.

Top tip .... Don't drink 8 pints of duval upon afternoon arrival. Or your 2 hours nap, may turn into 12 hours ... Whilst the rest of the travelling party enjoy the stag weekend! Cheers plankton
