And, her boat was made of plastic (carbon fibre etc). Carbon neutral-nah. Attention seeker I'm afraid.

Of course she's attention seeking, that's the entire point - to draw attention to an issue which is not being addressed with the necessary urgency.

And what does it matter what a boat was made out of? Are you only allowed to speak on climate change if you live in a treehouse and wear clothes made out of leaves?

You're right. We should do f**k all about the fact that our climate is approaching the point of no return and, instead, insinuate that a 16 year old with Aspergers is mentally ill.
    FFS
    As she said...shame on you.

I thought you were referring to Boris Johnson. I think he'd like to settle Brexit with a game of British Bulldog, or a game of tug of war.

I am right thank you for admitting that. You mentioned Aspergers not me.

Thinks she believes in herself tbh. However....all those students striking from school, easy win. I'll start believing they mean it when they have another protest and smash their iPhones. Rare earth minerals mined by child labour and shipped around the globe with a massive carbon footprint. I'm not holding my breath. And yes I am genuinely concerned about the planet we'll leave my grandkids but I don't think Emma Thompson flying in first class to join a woke protest is the answer

Excellent. So we can agree that she's a bright, lucid teenager who is committed to tackling climate change then.
What are your thoughts on how we tackle it by the way?

It would be more convincing even if they marched on a weekend in their own time for sure! In my early teens, a day at school or a march with lots of girls the same age, absolute no brainer.

Is there a link between right wing brexit voters and an irrational hatred of a kid trying to do something good?

She's just a pawn of the global elite. What with her wanting to save the environment etc.
Cue the "renewable energy is a massive industry just out to make profits" response from the usual suspects.

Uncomfortable viewing, its exploitation of a young and unstable child.

Uncomfortable, because of what she is saying & how she is bringing to the attention of the world how important the climate change issue is to the people with longer to live on this earth than many of us middle age posters?

Unstable? I'd be very proud, if she were my daughter.

I am not an expert unfortunately unlike many on here but I work in Foshan in China and go to work every day in a complete face mask because of the coal-fired pollution generated by China's hugely toxic coal-fired power stations. What we do in UK to help climate change is so, so, so very tiny compared to the pollutants kicked out by China every day but it makes some people feel better in UK who by protesting, feel better because they are "doing something". That said, we in uk had our own Industrial Revolution, and, who TFAW to deny other countries their "progression" and their own industrial revolutions to becoming a modern society. Unfortunately, this Scandinavian young, but I think naive and somewhat manipulated young lady, will achieve nothing in the big scale of pollution reduction, I wish her well incidentally. You and I Churton will never agree by the way, but it is refreshing to exchange views without trying to batter each other-unlike some other football clubs supporters who go to match's, not to enjoy watching their team, but to try to kill the opposing fans. Sleep well, Nite.
