How about supporting a local business, whos bikes win most budget reviews?

http://www.planetx.co.uk/ The Barnsley shop is next to the tip a Wosborough - the old cycle promotion building.
They have some ex display under £500, great specs for the £££ .... the new bikes (on the web) are all over £500
I have a couple of road bikes misen - a full carbon for summer, an alloy with mud guards for winter.
If it were me, I'd get a road bike - cleaning off roaders (after every ride) is sh#te ..... road biking is faster, and more fun IMHO

I prefer the trails just 'cos its not as boring ( I used to be long distance lorrydriver and I hate staring at blacktop ) swerving around dog toffee and hitting the puddles hehe, then I just go the garage and jet wash the bike off for £1
