Not on about pay monthly.

What I'm talking about is for example, if someone renews their ST or buys one for the first time before end of April/May, then they either get a discount or can pay in 3 equal monthly installments. They sign up to this with no get outso the club knows at such an early stage what amount of money is forthcoming.

The flip side is that it shows goodwill to supporters.

RE: The Marketing Manager's a sound bloke

I don't think it would hurt for him to put some of these suggestions to the board. Which he might have done, you never know.

unfortunatly i think it is obvious

thats the clubs policy is to do as little as possible and just assume the fans will turn up

i think that'd work - because at least it spreads the cost a little but allows the club to have the money before the start of the transfer window. also, the club could make sure people paid by only issuing the ticket once the final installemt had been paid.

Sheff Wednesday have better prices for those who pay earlier, going up the longer fans leave it to buy a season ticket and they can rely on 20,000 fans.

That's how it used to be.

You put a minimum deposit of £50 down in May (0r whenever) and then could pay off the rest as you wanted before the season kicked off. The ticket was the property of the club until the final balance was paid.

This was stopped, I think when Mr Ridsdale was Chairman, and replaced by the finance company able to buy loaning the money plus interest so people could get a ticket but pay a fixed amount monthly before hand. Basically the cost plus interest ended up costing more than purchasing tickets on a matchday basis so has put people off buying ST's.

i think if that system was set up, but the money had to be paid by say, the end of June, it would work and give the club the financial certainty it needed.

    It worked before.

Think you had to pay final payment by mid July but can't be sure.

i think its a good un, someone want to email bfc, i reckon the system would work as like this.

    1. discounted ticket for ordering before 1st may

    2. if order before first of may can either pay in full, or

    3. can pay in 3 monthly installment, final payment being on first of july.

    4. club will retain ticket until final payment is made.

    5. if final payment isnt made by 1st july, all paid monies are returned, excluding, for instance, a deposit of £50.00.

    would that work?

part season tickets should also be sold allowing fans to pay say £170 for any 10 home games this season along with 'group' tickets of the next three home games for £50 or something.

    you got a response?

Lucky git. I only ever seem to get one when it suits. Erm, I mean when the system is working.

im not sure that would work supertyke, the system for full season tickets and half season tickets (paid in december) allows the club to have the most money it can just prior and for the purposes of the transfer windows.

or did i not understand you right?

Well the 'part' season ticket one would work in the same way. It would be paid for before the season starts but would entitle the holder to attend any ten home games rather than the normal 23 (ideal for those who work shifts/live away etc). I know a few people who would love to have a season ticket but its just not worth it as they can't go to enough games to make it viable, this way they'd be able to buy one up front which would give the club the money to spend in transfers like a normal season ticket would and would also generate more money because they can't decide that they don't want to go anymore if the football is crap etc.

The other '3 for £50' or whatever wouldn't mean more money before the season started but throughout the season it would increase sales because if people would normally just go to two out of three games they might be tempted to pay the little extra and go to the third game as well. Lots of teams do similar schemes throughout the season
