Hey I've got an idea !!!

why not offer a discount of say £3 per tickrt if the ticket was bought in advance of the match day ?

I bet no ones thought of that, also a couple of seasons later once you've got people interested cynically remove the discount... nah I'm sure nobody would be as cynical as that !!!!

match day prices? surely by going for a season ticket you get a match price of £12... surely thats a way around it?

We need to get more kids in, and something to get the part-timers back

We have to start doing cheap season tickets for kids. Get em addicted and into the habit of going to games while they are young. And we need to get more kids wearing barnsley shirts. We all see kids wearing man u and chelsea shirts in town. We need to get them into a minority. So cheap season tickets with a free shirt...

    < 8 years - £30 + free shirt
    8 to 12 - £65 + free shirt
    12 to 16 - £100 + free shirt

We might lose a small amount of money from what we normally make, but we need to think long term. You get more kids addicted now, you get much more payback for the rest of their lives. And if all your mates are wearing barnsley shirts, why would you want to be the odd one out with a chelsea shirt?

    Introduce a friend?

Every season ticket holder that introduces a new season ticket holder to sit with them, both get £10 off.
Introduce 2 new season ticket holders, all three get £20 off. etc.

Use the current fans to put some peer pressure on their mates. Give their mates grief, give em some incentive to turn their mates from a few games a season into season ticket holders.

Or just put the prices up, and don't offer any incentives. Fans will always turn up, and its much less hassle.

Basically just what was said in my earlier post

about the fact that previously fans were allowed to pay a minimum deposit and then the rest in installments over 3 months, either in person at the Box Office or by direct debit. This facility was replaced by a credit agency and the interest paid on the loan for the ticket meant that people pay as much as chosing to attend match by match therefore less people pay up front.

    Used an example of:

ST £300 deposit (non-refundable) of £60 Payments of £80 to be paid May, June and July and on receipt of the final payment the ST would be handed over.

If payment wasn't paid in full then the ticket remained the property of the club

Also said that I think if people knew it would cost the same price, or maybe £5 extra for the additional work incurred, as others who can pay outright then more would do so.

Would they please consider the idea?

    not everyone

can afford to pay out for a season ticket. or due to work and family commitments cant make enough matchs to make it £12 per game. The fact is it is a lot of money if say 2 people want to go lets say a couple and there son, thats a hell of a expense. And its a massive cost match by match too.

People have said maybe a quid or two off for buying in advance. and maybe discounts on bundles of 2 or 3 games bought at same time, what would it hurt to give it a go?

Then those with part season tickets would take priority just like full season ticket holders would.

I guess there would have to be a system in place whereby you have to tell the club which ten games you want, and then throughout the season you can swap your games for others provided that seats are still available, if they aren't then tough, you take the 10 that you nominated.

i think it would just be the hassle of administration as opposed to the net gain to the club in extra revenue. im nto sure that many would take up all these different offers.

the system has to be clear, simple and fair. by having 13 or 20 different ways of getting tickets makes it unweildy and unworkable. of course, if you reduce match day prices, the incentive to go for a season ticket would be reduced.

    RE: not everyone

family of four can go to the pictures for the same price as one adult ticket at Oakwell. Not picking on Barnsley in particular more football in general.

    like a timeshare supertyke?

just wondering about teh administration of it - it would be tough. would have to employ and extra person or two just to deal with that end of things, say they are on 12 or 13k a year, thats 24k to be paid - would these extra incesntives generate a enough extra revenue to meet the cost of administering it?

    exactly mate

Barnsley relative to everyone else have some reasonable season ticket prices and about average match day prices, football is in general pricing itself out

    do an MK dons

go to the clubshop with an 06/07 shirt and a ticket for two of the matches still to come this season and get a free 07/08 barnsley shirt.

it gets more people through the turnstyles for the remaining games, gets more barnsley shirts out on the streets and gets rid of other teams shirts from barnsley.

Then maybe stick in lots of vouchers in the back of your season ticket book entitling a child to enter for £3 with a season ticket holder and we're onto something.

Suddenly becomes £15/£16 for a dad and son to go to a match rather than £30

Bundle up attractive game tickets with those less so

    and offer a big discount.

ie piggies, l**ds & sarfend tickets for 3/4 match day prices. then make individual match day tickets for attractive games a couple of quid extra.

    could work?
