Re: He seems a decent bloke Another reason why I left slightly confused, Robins was supposed to have left because he couldn't keep Barnsley in the division on that budget. Yet he said hills budget was the same as Robins. Although he did say the budget was he same except for Harewood and O'Connor. also said there was very little between the budgets for Davey, Robins and Hill. other stuff mentioned loan signings from Hills budget not an extra cash boost Anderson De Silva was recommended by the Don - Hill very impressed but de silva didn't feel the contract until may was worth uprooting his family Davies was scouted by the don and other directors There was only a couple of things that he actually said don't mention outside of the room (one im not sure i believe anyway), but still other stuff im not sure I could post so will wait for Gally, sorry
Re: He seems a decent bloke I think the point is he's got, let's say 5 million to spend a year. That's exactly what Robins had two years ago. The difference now is that you don't get as much for your money (rising wages) and you're now competing with sides like Cardiff and Leicester who have had big takeovers and Blackpool/Blackburn with massive parachute payments. So you might have the same to spend but it doesn't buy you as much as it did two years ago. And he's not been able to ask Mr Cryne for a couple of strikers.
Did nobody bother to ask if Keith's job was on the line? I have wanted and hoped to attend both meets, but working when I do makes it impossible. Unless they are on a Friday or Sunday, it looks like I won't ever get to one. Perhaps I'll take up the Don's invite to a private one to one meeting, at a suitable day. Would make a good blog article I imagine..
Its ok talking a good game but actions speak louder than words. The club as a lot of potential on many fronts and it just isn't utilised, especially in regards to engaging fans and increasing season ticket holders.
Merlin you know better than to expect Rowing as an official representative to speak for the owner about the manager. The team was only briefly discussed it was about the club
Re: He seems a decent bloke "Keith's budget is the same as Robins in real terms" Tra-la-la-la-laTra-la-la-la-la You seen that SM? Bust my arse. And as for Keef, 56 points old ****. And his best player was sold too.
Re: Yes some things were told in confidence Interesting then that confirmation has been made that Keef has the same as MR and Davey to spend Undermining?
Well said fired. Tis all a bit silly really. Don will tell a room full of strangers all this 'confidential' stuff which kind of makes it not confidential. Its all hot air anyway.
Isn't it obvious? The manager wants Alnwick instead and to free up money from Steele to allow more players to add to the 33 he has now.
But they choose to spend the money differently wages on expensive loans or cheap permanent signings sold at a profit. I might be mistaken but has someone not put on here that Hill only has the same budget this year because we sold Butterfield? Completely and utterly vindicated. FACT.
Re: But they choose to spend the money differently One cheap signing sold at a profit. No indication it will happen again. And didn't Robins make a prfot on Shackell too? Difference is that the club have given up and Keef fits that bill perfectly. He's comfortable in L1 and below. If Keef had replcaed your man would you still want him? I say NO....
Expensive loan signings or cheap permanent signings sold for a profit. Robins chose to spend almost his entire budget on loan signings leaving the club no saleable assets. Hill has repeatedly stated that the strategy is to sign players on the cheap, develop/remotivate them and sell them on. When Robins' 12 loan signings went back to their respective clubs, someone had to step in and point out that this strategy is flawed. If he'd got us higher than 17th, maybe it wouldve been different. If Hill gets fired, he'll leave behind a squad that has assets. ppg isnt the whole picture.
Re: Expensive loan signings or cheap permanent signings sold for a profit. PPG is the whole picture if it is not high enough to result in staying up.
In addition to Vaz Te Butterfield - largely ignored by Robins, developed by Hill Davies - likely to go for decent money (unlike the 6 loan strikers + Liam Dickinson) Stones - given debut, talked up and now probably worth several million Wouldnt surprise me if clubs came in for a few other players in Jan (Perkins, Mellis, Done) you may or may not rate them but they are our players not loaned in.
