I What about his Bebo account? Is that genuine? Could he just release a statement via Twitter on which of his social media accounts are genuine.
I've looked for literally one minute, more than that as it goes, and it's not obvious to me. Almost everyone else on facebook has personal photos of themselves. The Patrick Cryne account has a corporate photo of him with Alex Ferguson and some generic Barnsley FC stuff. Most people are friends on facebook with their actual friends and family. The Patrick Cryne account is friends with Barnsley supporters. And that's before I discuss the content of his posts, much of which doesn't ring true to me. I'm not saying I'm right, just that it isn't obvious to me that it's him, and I do question it. Why is it obvious to you? This whole thing is about not believing what people post on the internet. As it goes, I didn't believe what I read on the Oldham forum. As with everything I read on the web, I took it with a pinch of salt. I don't know whether it's right or wrong, it's just information. But the same is true about what you've written above, because that's just something I've read on the internet. And the same is true with what was posted on the Patrick Cryne facebook account. Even if I'm wrong, and it is him, his position doesn't make him more au fait with the truth than anyone else. Put the information on the official BFC site and it adds more credence to it, but the personal posts of a person on facebook are no different to the personal posts of people on here and, unlike many others it seems, I don't believe a football club owner has any more integrity than an engineer, or a shop assistant, or a call centre worker, or a doctor, or someone who is unemployed. No less either, but no more.
Well I thought all the posts on his account made it clear it is him, but can understand how people might think it's not, or if it's someone pretending to be him. I've heard from the horses mouth but understand my internet typings a are as valid as a cat walking on a keyboard. The thing is he club can't go releasing statements for every little thing, such as a rumour on an Internet forum. I think that's why he's posted it on his personal account - to prove the 'rumours' are ******** without having to release an official club statement, which some (myself included) would see unnecessary and somewhat daft. It's hard to believe a multi millionaire football owner would release statements not through official channels. It's easy to fake a Facebook profile unless his account has up a picture of him for example holding up a piece of paper with the account URL on it? Or he's posted up a video confirming it? I thought it was just full of pictures of him you can find anywhere.
I agree with you mate, I don't think the club should issue a statement for every little thing, especially not what has happened here, which was nowt at all. And Patrick Cryne has every right to tackle whatever subject he wishes on his facebook account. I'm just not sure it's his, but I'm far from confident that I'm right. For the record, I'm calling neither you nor Patrick Cryne a liar. However, I'm not calling anyone in that Oldham thread a liar either. My position remains as it always has, I simply don't know. Although, in this case, I'm not that inclined to believe Johnson is making threats to resign or having big rows with the owner. Seems a bit much that, even if he hasn't managed to secure the squad he hoped.
