Thought we did ok today when taking who's missing into account. Not sure I liked where Brittain was put and found he didn't look up at times, with the right wing under utilised frequently. Vic and and Frieser did well when they came on which was a positive, and another quality performance from Brad. A draw was about right and if we'd lost to a late goal I'd have been gutted as we didn't deserve to lose. Plenty of positives and some room for improvement.
I enjoyed it. Thought we played well and were the better team and were it not for some unlucky/poor finishing would have won which of course would make everyone feel more positive. thought we were broadly solid (the one chance they had the exception) and tried to play some good stuff. Lacked a bit of a spark but we have a number of players out. probably an unpopular opinion but I feel that the way we played today was better than a number of games last year stylistically it’s just that we lack a bit of cutting edge which will hopefully come with experience and getting players back in. Fine margins and all that.
Yes I enjoyed it. We were slow in the build up many times but overall it was a decent game. Little Gomes is a bright spark !!
Yes, and I'm usually rather harsh on the performances. Lacking a cutting edge, obviously, and still a few square pegs/round holes to shuffle, but I thought it was a decent, compact performance against well-regarded opposition. Look back at Danny's first season and there were little flurries of tight, uneventful games - more than few of them goalless. Often uninspiring, but they gave us the platform, the foundations, on which better things were built. I'd like to see a little less tinkering - I know we've got a million players out, but there were a few easier, more obvious options available today. But a safe, solid 6/10 for me. With such a makeshift back three, to neutralise any threat from Rovers the way they did was very reassuring. On another day, that could have quite easily finished 1-0/2-0 and this board would be full of daft ***** about the playoffs...
If he'd come out and said that it was a decent game after we'd drawn 0-0 he'd have been accused of lacking ambition/accepting not winning.
I think today was the first time this season we haven't given the opposition a hatful of decent chances (thank goodness most didn't take them) so a vast improvement.
The current MRS.DR thought it was a good game. I thought two evenly matched teams largely cancelled each other out. We really do need some shooting practice. our head coach also needs to tell Brittain that when he gets in a shooting position he should pass the ball.
I thought in terms of quality it was dreadfully poor but in terms of entertainment not too bad. So 2/10 for quality and 7/10 for entertainment.
Don’t know if I’d say a decent game but when you look at that starting 11 & bench & look at the players we have unavailable or only just starting their time at Barnsley then I think it was an encouraging performance.
It was genuinely one of the least entertaining games I’ve ever watched. Two extremely poor sides labouring about the pitch with no energy or enthusiasm. Schopp has ripped apart everything we had from last season. It’s not making me look forward to my next trip to Oakwell.
yeah skill we got 2 one for Oduors run and one for Heliks they got 2 good move to set up Bereton and the pace skill and trickery at the end that created a couple of changes. So 2 overall. Entertainment first half was pretty good. We had spells where we looked comfortable on the ball without creating a great deal and both teams competed well. The second half other brief movement was so terrible it was entertaining.
