So you speak 3 languages then, Dreamy?

    Good man.

    Yep, French and German.

It's much much more rewarding to learn now when you actually want to than it was at school. I can't believe I studied French at least two hours a week for five years and never got anywhere past very basic stuff.

Learned French in middle school and German in high school. Both were pretty similar difficulty standards to learn. I still remember bits, but i've lost some over the years sadly. Shame really because I think everyone benefits from being fluent in more than one language. I know little bits of Italian and Spanish but not much. I wouldn't mind learning a difficult language like Japanese or Punjab, but i've been told by my mate who once did Japanese and Russian that it's very difficult.

    Bi lingual mate.

Its excellent and everything you'd associate with a product used by NASA and leading travel companie

It uses mmersion techniques that you use a child to speak English, there is never any English spoken or wrote, its all pictures and scenarios, truley fantastic, really does do what it says on tin. They offer a 6 month money back guarantee, which they can because no one in their right mind would be disgruntled.

Comes at a price of £340 for levels 1-3, which works out cheaper than buying individual, but i gues a college course would cost at least that

You are spot on about Spanish and French, all three languages very similiar, if you can master one, the other two are a breeze

sounds very good! so are you speaking Italiano adesso? :) I've been learning in the last hour or so. But it is quite a lot of money to pay out in one go. I may try to find a tutor. Grazie.

    RE: Italian

I did 'A' level Italian part-time, and got an 'A' a couple of years ago. So I'm pretty good butdon't feel that I'm bilingualand always feel that there's still plenty to learn. I think you can get so far with courses but you need toimmerse yourself in the language (ideally by living abroad) for it to really stick. At least, that's my experience.</p>

I found that listening to language CD's (or cassettes back then) a good way, and trying to get into the habbit of playing them all the time as a matter of routine and thinking about as many objects as possible in their foreign name
    - e.g. write post-it notes on the bread bin - such as brot or pan. Or lists on the fridge/mirror/computer desktop etc so that it's on your mind many times throughout the day.

they say that in each language we use the same 100 words about 50% of the time. So if you could learn 5 words per day - then you're half way there within a month.

    Serbo-Croat....

Sounds like Russian gone wrong! Still, it was pretty cool being able to turn up in Croatia and pretty much understand the menus, street signs etc without any phrase books at all. Plus over the border in Montenegro everything is written in Cyrillic, which perversely made it much easier (though if you know a bit of Russki you'll know what I'm getting at). Your school sounds a good deal more interesting than most mind, offering that many diverse languages.
