    Blame Margaret Thatcher and the Tory government for Barnsley degenerating into the type of place you claim it to be. Barnsley was was once a fine, mighty proud town with a hardworking honest workforce. That woman and government have a lot to answer for.

    you need to change your circles

    I live, work and socialise in Barnsley, and yes there are certainly people like that. But there are also people of intelligence, hard working etc etc. None of my friends and family fit into the description you have just given, so please do not generalise...when you do you are as bad as the BBC.

    A label that's undeserved but one that's stuck and will continue to be perpetuated. The national media will already be salivating in anticipation of the local elections.

    now we know how many council houses the council gave to in comers and the spokesman was quite happy to tell us on bbc tv
    lets all e-mail the council and bbc and see if the spokesman would be as forth coming with the info on how much tax payers money was spent giving privert landlords money to home foreigners
    i know a lot of landlords who own houses in the summer lane area of Barnsley get pay there rent from the council .
