anybody see the bit of Barnsley on BBC national news last night?

    However, I love it here. It's a fantastic place, with fantastic friendly fun-loving people. I know several people who have moved here from outside the area, including several from London and one (the famous Guest 42!) from the south coast. None of them would ever think of leaving. My neighbours are originally from London, and they never stop saying how refreshing it is to live here.

    Can't imagine living anywhere else. Tried it once, but came back after a bit as many on here know.

    It depends who you mix with surely?

    Barnsley has more than its fair share of fantastic people, places and history.

    Yes there are some undesirable things about the town, as any other town....but as somoene who "emigrated" to Sheffield, and has lived in various other places, no-where has made me feel as "at home".

    I agree some things are embarassing, but I know that most of the people I know from Barnsley are lovely, warm hearted people with a brilliant sense of humour. (Well apart from the wierdos!)

    take a day off in the week ave a wander around town you will cringe,where ave we gone wrong is it maggies fault, is it the unions but my god Barnsley ,England is well and truly fecked,i despair i dont blame any young person who fecks off to australia join the prisoners on oz it cant be worse than what our town is coming to ,the only pride of Barnsley now is our football team and that sums it up
