We need lots of people carrying signs with confusing Yorkshire sayings on them.

Im tempted to hire a whippet, put on my flat cap and run up and down alongside the bicycles.

If I was braver and younger, I'd probably be using spray paint to write something like "Ey Up, Tha's in tahn nah, si thi!" in big letters across the road where it enters Barnsley.

My plan is to stay at home, might watch some on telly just to see the locations, no interest in the actual Tour

    atmosphere ... behave thissen.... obviously

you have never ever been to a Rugby match in the Millenium stadium then.... especially when they play England.

I guess its each to their own. I have stood I some huge Stadia to watch Footballl and Rugby and experienced ELECTRIC in the atmosphere. Somehow Bicycling and motor racing just do not do it for me..... however I do strangely enjoy Super bike racing ... especially used to like Foggarty, Sheen and Agostini.... that's some very different eras there for you.

Seen both, Rugby doesn't really do it for me, especially league and neither does motor sport, where is the joy in watching cars zoom past at 100 mph? I suppose you will tell me its the atmosphere, well that's what the tour is about it captures the imagination of towns and villages as it passes through. Holmfirth and lots of the North Yorkshire towns look spectacular at the moment, there is genuine excitement all around a feeling that I have lost from following football.

Isn't the road to Dunford Bridge closed (or is it just the bit from Dunford Bridge to the Woodhead road)?

Was planning on going to enjoy it but have got some work around it now so though good financially not so good for appreciating the sport.

I wanted to do Holme Moss as I've rode it a few times & it's brutal enough for their to be lots of attacks but it'll take hours to get off the climb so I'll ride up the trans pennine trail to Dunford Bridge then go on the road to Woodhead & watch them come past there as they'll still be climbing at that point & the group should be strung out so lots of chances to get good photos

Just the road from Dunford as far as I am aware. Parking in the Hade Edge area and following the Kirklees Way is another option onto the Holme Moss Road and then walk to the summit.

I did consider parking at Wassenden Head then taking the Pennine Way South towards Black Hill and then a 2k yomp over the moor. I was up there Saturday night and the moor was pretty dry.

TPT has now opened between Penistone and Dunford so parking as close to it as you can get and walking to Dunford and 5k over the moor is another option. It just depends how big a taste for adventure you have.
