Timex were a big American company...I think they had a factory in Scotland ( Dundee) for the UK. The company went bust some years ago...the name is still around but the watches are made in the far east.
Absolutely correct Sadbrewer. Timex had a huge work force here, mostly women who were deemed better at assembly line work. At one point in Dundee everyone knew someone who worked in the Timex. And every household had a Timex watch in it. Not all of them paid for. Timex then opened another factory here assembling Polaroid cameras. Then again every household seemed to own one. And the same happened in the early eighties when Spectrum computers were first on the go. Everyone had a spectrum. Mine still going strong as I type this reply. Sadly Timex no more. A huge body blow to the workforce here.
I do mate. Wouldn't touch one of these with a barge pole. The style police need to issue an arrest warrant, although I have to say if you did a venn diagram of people who would actually buy this watch, it would be a pretty strange demographic
