Anything better than 22nd next season (provided we start it in the Championship) is progress. In essence, we've attained the same net effect of finishing in the relegation places, but the league members deciding/voting to cancel relegation for a season. We lucked out. And a mistake would be to compound that initial naive error. Yes players are older, slightly more mature and have slightly more experience. Theres no doubt, the more talented players play, the better they should become, the better their decision making should be. The more aware they are of how their teammates play and should be able to link, move and create better. Hopefully composure will improve too. We have some talented kids. But it's still a mistake to expect a squad packed with 20-22 year olds to turn out consistent performances week in week out. There are plenty of common sense posts about cutting the squad and adding quality. And i concur with that. But it will be the actions of the owners which define this squad. If we lose Mowatt, Brown and Woodrow, we'd be hugely cutting experience, quality and age from the squad again. And that absolutely would be unjust if it wasn't replaced like for like.
feeling a lot more optimistic than I would be if we'd been relegated... Divisions 1 and 2 will be chaotic with many clubs having problems surviving financially etc.
