    I never said it was a disease. It's an addiction, although some people have 'addictive personalities' and are to a greater or lesserdegree, pre-disposed to addiction.

    However, if you think all people "bring it on themselves" then you're grossly ignorant. One person I knew suffered a marriage breakdown after his wife left him. It left him a broken man and he lost access to his child. Depressed, he began drinking and ended up an alcoholic.

    If you don't have any sympathy for people in similar positions then i only hope it doesn't happen to someone you love and care about and that you don't utter the same nonsense you have on here to them.

    Yes, only they can stop, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve some sympathy and support.
