"To be fair to Leeds" - WHY When they have been most definitely unfair to the other 91 clubs. Either you follow the rules of the organisation or you don't. Leeds broke the rules and if the organisation had followed its rules correctly its share would have been suspended and the club couldnt have played this season at all. So the league make a special case and give them a lesser penalty to allow them to play - and now Leeds are claiming thats illegal Thats OK then - we allow the appeal give them their points back - if that is what the law says, and then follow the League rules and remove their share. Thats my definition of Fair.
iN A NUTSHELL........................... FACT 1-Leeds did not comply with FL rules regarding exiting administration
FACT 2-FL rules do not allow a club to compete if they have not complied with above rule
FACT 3-FL bottled it and decided to invoke an "exceptional circumstance" clause to allow Leeds to compete
FACT 4-to ensure other clubs voted in favour of the clause they had to be seen to be doing something to punish Leeds-hence the admittedly arbitrary 15 point deduction
If Leeds are appealing the number of points rather than the imposition itself then they may get a reduction-I can't see how they can appeal the imposition itself because the bottom line is they are competing only because of the above clause which the FL didn't have to invoke in the first place
If the independent arbitrators can't get their heads round the simplistic nature of this case then I give up-Leeds should under rule be thrown out of the FL and all their games declared null and void-but we all know it won't happen to such a BIG club

RE: To be fair "It was then made clear to him that, out of the 20 who voted "No", 12 clubs had wanted it to be more than the 15 points because of the way Leeds (and Cuddly Ken in particular) had tried to manipulate the system " Is that true? Never knew that. Really like it though. When I looked at the list of clubs who voted 'no' there were a few who I wondered why they would be supporting them. Its all clear now.
RE: To be fair Yes, it is true. I was told this by someone from the club who was at the League Chairmen meeting along with PR and by our FSF rep on the train to QPR 1st game this season - the day after the decision.
We started a season without anything in place No CVA, no **** all. People seem to have conveniently forgot that.
RE: Would cause murder with the other clubs! nt do you think you,ll get your points back? soz mate couldn,t resist!
There's no "law" that states this should happen.. but, I would assume that a contract exists between the FL and all member clubs and that by signing that contract you accept the right of the FL and the other clubs to impose whatever punishments the members see fit. It is the FL's competition and therefore what is "right" in the eyes of the law does not really come into it as far as I can see, as there will be only contract law covering it, and as another poster said, Leeds accepted the punishment in writing as I don;t believe they expected to be in the position they are now in.
