Find me a quote from Ritchie that said we were league one

You'll be hard pushed to find one.

RE: Find me a quote from Ritchie that said we were league one

He said it in a Radio De Da interview.

He was given a fair amount of stick on here at the time for saying it.

I even had a dig at him myself :D

Cobblers. He said we were Championship but wouldn't make the Prem.

No he didn't. He said we were historically a third tier side.

I don't think he said that and if he did he was wrong

we are historically a 2nd tier club having spent more seasons than any other club at that level

I know that. Ritchie clearly didn't know the history of the club. I was sitting in the Oakwell car park screaming at the radio when he said it.

    He more or less did

IIRC though I cant remember the exact words.

something along the lines of we were over achieving in the championship also that we would NEVER get to the prem again.

I thought he suggested we may be a yo yo team between league 1

and the championship. IIRC his comments re the premier league were taken out of context, but I think he wasn't the choice of the owner so his days were numbered. Anyway it's all water under the bridge.

"Without the backing of a Russian Billionaire,"

finish the quote if you are going to use it.
    IIRC
He said we were very unlikely ever to get back into the Prem. without the backing of a Russian Billionaire. Also he said that we had got promoted ahead of schedule and we were now punching above our weight , (at that time), not that we were a second division team, but we were a second tier side traditionally.

But what does it matter what was said 3 years ago????????

    pff

got the transcript then? Water under the bridge and all that.

I dont think the russian billionaire comment (if that's actually what he said) makes the comment any less derisory.

I think the russian billionnaire comment was a dig at Patrick Cryne

Which is probably what annoyed him so much. I think it was a dig at the fact that Cryne was sat on all that money but had offered him no financial backing whatsoever (in his opinion) so he was saying that you cant expect progress without being given money to spend.

Thats just my take on what he said. Also didn't Simon Davey say the same about us being promoted ahead of schedule?

    It is what he said

and it is water under the bridge. I am fed up of all the slagging off of ex managers and players.

The only ones that should matter are the ones that are here NOW !!!!!!!!!!

By the way I used IIRC just like you did.
