    Who's paying for the improvements?

And if we redeveloped the West Stand would we get more fans in?

Who's paying for it then? The council?

'or refurbish a current one have a surge in crowds and an air of optimism comes around'

That implies to me if we re-developed the West Stand then there'd be an increase in our attendance - if that's not what you meant, fair enough.

    so...

if do you not think that if Sheff Wed had a new look/refurbished ground maybe some of the pig fans that currently stay away would return? or if you were a possible millionaire investor would you not be impressed with a newly refurbished ground and new state of the art facilities and possibly think about getting on board. As it stands they're a run down club who's attendances have slipped since the 90's and they arent' a good prospect for a takeover. With regards to your comment about our West Stand, we don't have any stay away fans.

If you would like them to have a state of the art upgrade to the stadium to bring it up to a standard World Cup venue, then fair play to you. Enjoy the one game you will see there over a summer competition.

    We don't have stay away....

...fans? Have you not read the discussions on here? How come our attendances have dropped over the past few years then, the same as Wednesday?

All I'm saying is I'd rather travel to Sheffield to watch the game than Manchester. We're talking 2018, thats 9 years. You'd expect them to upgrade that **** hole before then anyway.

And who's paying for it if Wednesday aren't?

Yes we dont have stay away fans

Our attendances have dropped? Bring up the past 10 seasons averages, shall l do it for you? or are you thinking about the Premiership bandwagon season? before the Prem we had 7k averages, they went up for the Prem season they then gradually dropped off and finally hovered around the 8-9k mark in League One. On return to the Championship we have averaged 12k-13k over the past three seasons. So where's the stayaways? the 18k from the Premership?? What we get now is now the average die hards, probably less if we stop with the youngsters season ticket offers.

And here's your answer to the question about funding you keep asking:

"Stadium development will also provide us with new revenue generating capabilities and strengthen our ties with the local community, something which I believe all Wednesdayites can be proud of."

Funding for the project will not affect the club's current business plan, with the majority of the £22 million coming from government grants backed by increased club revenue streams.

    Last 10 Seasons Attendances...

    99-00 15412
    00-01 14465
    01-02 13323
    02-03 9758
    03-04 9620
    04-05 9779
    05-06 9045
    06-07 12733
    07-08 11452
    08-09 13189

Average over that 10 season period = 11878.

    This season's average 11834.

    Fair enough.

I didn't know how it was being funded. That's why I asked.

Isn't it the same scenario you're takling about with Wednesday though? They had big attendances in the Premier years and a couple of years after and then they've levelled out with the 'die hards' as you've referred to?

To say they're stay away and ours aren't seems a bit daft to me.

I don't see why we're even talking about it - I just fancy going to Sheffield rather than Manchester to watch a football game (that might not even happen).

I thought they were after 45,000 minimum for t World Cup stadiums?</p>

Or is the missing 1,000 to allow space for Blackwell's ego?

I don't care one way or another if either Sheffield club increases their ground capacity

It comes so far down the things I care about that it just doesn't register. Either club could build a 200,000 seater ground for all I care or they could tear down their current grounds and go to play on a rec. It won't affect me or the football club I support in the slightest.

My only input into this has been that I quite like Sheffield as a place and that if England do host the world cup in the future then it would be nice to see a game just down the road. But if you want I'll shake my fist at them and get all angry.
